And of course 10,000 Days Wings for Marie Pt2

Nice choice, all three songs (your two and the Perfect Circle song i posted) being about Maynard's mother. You can see the change in his emotion towards her religious conviction. You could almost say that he had...come....around...full circle. :happy2:

He seemed to appreciate her devotion and take some comfort in it but he sure had no sympathy for her fellow religious devotees.

It's summer 1974' and there was lots of great music at the time. But on a hot summer day at the lake someone slams in an 8-track tape and out of the speakers came a classic sound that to this day still is one of the all time greats. I give you Kool and the Gang's Summer Madness.

wow Kool and the Gang....brings back memories of my childhood. When I was little, my parents would take my sisters and I on vacations and my dad would always buy a new cassette to listen to during the road trip. The old man would wear the tape out. I dunno how many times one person could listen to "Celebrate" in one 6 hr trip to the Smokey Mountains, but my dad tried for the world record. Billy Ocean was another of his favorites. I have Carribean Queen on my phone set as his ringtone...lol. One year for Christmas, I bought him a bunch of cds of all the music he made us listen to on long car rides. Im not sure he got the point of how those songs made me feel and remember such a happy time in my life. Perhaps someday I'll tell him.

1969' Bach and Jethro Tull with a jazz flair to it. Hard to believe this year marks the 40th anniversary of Aqualung.

In 71' I saw Tull (Aqualung) The Who (Who's Next) and Emerson Lake and Palmer (Tarkus) live all within about 3 weeks of each other and never at the time had a clue how important these albums would end up being in rock music history. About a year earlier I saw Tull on American Bandstand playing Teacher off their first album Benefit. All that seems like yesterday.

I saw a pre-Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac in 72' opening up for Deep Purple and it was the only time I ever saw the band live. Something I learned not long ago about FM and it pertains to founding members Peter Green and Mick Fleetwood. The 2 of them before FM played in another band together call Shotgun Express who had a frontman lead singer who would go on to make his own mark in music history. That singer? A young Rod Stewart!

Since we're on to iconic bands and former members, in 72' a band hit the prog music scene who had 2 former founding members from Yes in the persons of Peter Banks and Tony Kaye. The band was called Flash and they released 3 studio albums. I only saw them once in the summer of 72' touring with Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, It's a Beautiful Day and Ike and Tina Turner. Rain caused the show to be delayed and the whole thing moved indoors and by the time Ike and Tina closed out it was 4:30 am. People we so tired, everyone was just crashing out in the parking lot and about 9 am tons of hippies awoke and very hungry. The local eateries make a killing on the breakfast shift! :happy-very:

Here's Flash and their 72' hit Small Beginnings. If it sounds like early Yes, that was the Peter Banks influence or you might get a sense where Yes got their classic sound from.
