Ya know, thru this whole campaign it's been my belief that Obama is NOT a Muslim. But when he refers to "my Muslim faith" in an interview, I gotta believe it is more than just a "gaffe".

I would sooner have my taxes go for the GI bill than the crap Obama wants it to go for. I dont want to pay taxes when it goes for social programs no one has to raise off their butt to get. But since I have to pay them, higher education for those who serve or volunteer their services to the community or their country. Kind of like the compensation we get from work, working for the government, the government pays them benefits, just as UPS pays ours.
I would not want a draft as people who should not be there, serving, would be.

Bill O'Reilly beat up BO on the economy.... He called him out and told him that his tax plan is nothing more than income redistribution which is a socialist concept! BO said - come on Bill you and I can afford to give up a little for that poor waitress!
Without a tele-prompter he stutters and stammers when he talks. He is sharp but he has trouble thinking on his feet and getting it out. He wants unlimited payroll tax and 39% for the top bracket. That would mean that the rich would pay 50% income tax while people under $45000 would pay ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Sounds fair to me!

Other than the fact that I lack trust for anything BO says..... Now that I am retired, my pension is practically nothing and I would probably benefit from all the "promises".
For me there are no more payroll taxes and a real low income tax bracket. I might actually get a check back!!!! Sure!!! LOL
This is not about me.... it is about the country. We need true leadership and real change.
Tele-prompter eloquence is a great quality... However I will take real substance any day over looking and sounding "presidential"!

If you think your pension is worth nothing now just wait and see whats it's worth when John McCain gets in office! Hopefully he is there 8 years! I hope you have the time to see! The tax deficit will be in the Gazillions and your dollar will be worth a penny by then! The Bush Tax Breaks for the richest 1% of the population should help you out. I know what your Truckers pension is! It is a top wage earners salery!
I hope McCain gets in so you have to get back up off your duff and hit the pavement again because I am tired of paying for your pension and Social Security. You won't need and social service program funding your retirement because you will most certainly be working again and not by choice! Working again should provide you with adequate money to make your Health Insurance Premium and I hope you remain healthy enough to make your Premium so they don't cut off your benefit if you become ill to work anymore!
Abolish these silly pensions and social security once and for all!
Get back in the truck and do something for your Country!

As for time, it will only take a couple years to drive the Deficit up to another all time high thus reducing the value of the dollar even further!
It is worth about .60 cents today and in a few years it may be reduced to the amount of a Vietnam Dong!
If we have any hope rescind the Bush Tax Breaks for the Richest of the Rich to pay the Deficit as Barrack proposed he would do!
This country will countinue to slide with the Bush Tax breaks all the way until we are totally bankrupt!
You won't be able to drive a Truck or a Bus or a Cab pulling a Union pension. I hope you went to school because the only thing left is a Walmart Greeters position waiting!

This thread has been a truly interesting read for me I guess because I can view it from a third party standpoint.The arguments go back and forth about what each party promises they will do.
Obviously a lot of you will be voting.
I watched Mccains speech,and some of obama's and if indeed they keep thier promises(we are talking politicians here)then each one has its own idea of how to make America a better place.The best thing about reading it was that you all have strong feelings about what should be done and this is a perfect venue for your opinions.Its great to see you exercising your rights to your first amendment.What bothers me is that the animosity of some of the responses almost sounds like you are taking it to the 2nd.Everyone has thier own idea of would be beneficial but you tend to attack each other with subtle name calling.

My post's seem mean? This is the mere reality of what might or could happen with 8 more years of Bush Tax cuts and the reality could be very cold and I am sorry if you feel that I hurt somebodys feeling. If noone here makes 250k a year then surely One needs to look at both tax proposals and see if they would be better off with or without the Bush Tax Cuts. I am simply trying to shed some light and am hoping to get threw to some that may not understand. If one feels they are better off now with these tax cuts for the richest of the rich top 1% wage earners then so be it and lets continue them and sink together!
On the contrary, if you feel you are less off with these tax cuts then I have presented a candidate that will most certainly try and rescind them!
Balance the budget with Clintons Tax Code! Clinton balanced the budget and your dollar had the face value of a dollar. He did it and it would work again under Obamas plan!

So... I take it you have no problem with higher taxes and redistributing your wealth? It's kind of like playing Robin Hood with your money!!! I find it hard to believe that any person would want to give the government more money or will this not affect you so you are OK with it??? Enlighten me.
The best way to reduce the deficit is by reducing inefficient government spending and unnecessary programs. Your candidate can't balance the budget and add all the programs he wants without huge tax increases. Who are you kidding?
Our tax code is all screwed up because the politicians created loop-holes for themselves and their cronies. Every time a loop hole is closed another is opened up!
We need a flat tax rate. I am sure a way to eliminate loop holes could be figured out.
We should do away with the income tax and create a National Sales Tax that taxes goods and services.
Generally - the more money you make - the more you spend. This means the more you spend, the more you will pay in taxes!
If you don't buy anything than you don't pay any tax.
This is a progressive tax that is fair and equitable. Everyone pays the same rate.

We need to constantly remind ourselves of this. We cannot delude ourselves into thinking our country is safe.
Now we can take it to them OR, we can let them bring it to us like they did in 2001!
I prefer that we go to their sandbox and play! In the meantime I will fence up my backyard, lock my gates and put a security system in. I might even spend the money to add a dog. This will help keep my sandbox clean!

I have respect for John McCain’s service to this country and I know he honors those who serve. But he is one of the few Senators of either party who oppose the GI bill introduced a few months ago by a Senator Webb, because he thinks it’s too generous. I couldn’t disagree more. At a time when the skyrocketing cost of tuition is pricing thousands of Americans out of a college education, we should be doing everything we can to give the men and women who have risked their lives for this country the chance to pursue the American Dream. So I did a little more reading on this. And Obama isn't kidding. McCain says the bill gives our troops too much. Seriously. McCain has opposed Senator Webb's proposed GI Bill because it helps our troops too much. So McCain has introduced another bill that gives our troops fewer benefits. Nice.
I'm surprised DS that you point the finger at Paidslave as being "just plain mean". Reading back on this thread Paid has been called "male chauvinist pig", "a liar", "an old timer", "sweetheart"( in a condescending manner), one moderater even called him "an idiot"(he did apoligize), someone even ask his legitimate post to be deleted, and that all Democrats are baby killers. And he's the mean one? Just my 2 cents.....Anyhow Paid provides strong counter arguments and IMO has not been "mean" but a target.
Lifer, Actually republican administrations since Reagon, Bush sr, Bush jr has skyrocketed the deficit even when not at war. Now with GW and his Neo-Con staff his economic policies clashing with his foriegn policies are raising the deficit thru the roof. Fear mongering also feeds the thirst to bolster our military ind complex instead of bolstering our own infrastructure. If you support bankrupting this country, than at least lets do it investing here at home.
