Why shouldn't we strike?

Going back to earlier topics...the company might be able to claim they are broke because of all the buildings, equipment, etc that needs to be replaced. Granted they should have been withholding money all along for this. But it will be a big expenditure and from the sounds of it, they can't push it off much longer, my building included.

You can rest assured that they set aside funds needed for infrastructure improvements.

Metaphorically yes. Feeder drivers too, since they aren't really the "face" so much either. By heartbeat I mean underneath the shiny facade shield and image that UPS portrays to the public.

Again, you are making this massive leap from $10 to $36/hr. I think PT starting pay should be in the 13-14 range, which isn't anywhere near the ballpark that you are running with. Would you agree with $2-3 /hr going to PT starting wages?

Most part-timers never go driving, so I don't agree with your last point. What you said sounds more like a cop-out, when people feel the need to justify their behavior in any way possible. ;)
What position do you have at ups that gives you so much information that is irrefutable? Yes, with a 6 to 1 hiring ratio most part timers do go driving. If you disagree back it up with facts, don't just disagree. The jump in pay is obviously when a part time employee goes full time driving and puts in the 4 years, tell me I'm wrong but back it up with facts. I agree the starting pay for new hires could go up, and this is where the top scale would go down, heck to me that makes sense.

Before thinking of a strike.. consider how much you now make per week.. add to that what you would be paying for your health insurance. The cost per week (last year, info via Teamcare/COBRA) to me if I were to pay for my insurance would be $385 PER WEEK. So UPS is giving an extra $1540 per month.
I am on my way out.. not into the job.. so not a company tool.. but jeez, try and pay for your own insurance.. talk about sticker shock.
Do you have more/less than 5 years in or are you close to retirement? 5 years usually means your vested in the pension. Usually on your health insurance it is not immediately lost due to a strike.

People will take one look at our compensation package and tell us to get our butts back to work.
Did the public do that when Verizon workers strikes? Their compensation is high and they had public support and won.

As usual Dave, you understand very little because you don't study things in life very well.

You assume based on your ego.

Yep bullseye ... When I get my "questionnaire in the mail the first two things I'm going to put down is constant harassment as 1 and surepost as 2... Oh that's right the union put a stop to the underlying causes of production harassment in the last contract...lol what joke!!
Sure post equates to jobs.....the harassment will always be here, therefore harassment is a non issue. Beat them at their own game, thicken up that skin. A good number 2 might be automatic time and a half for all hours over 10, and you have to opt out of the list.

I get surepost but we need proximity language.. Get more of it back with us... And if the union wanted to push the bs production issues they could... I get playing their game but they are wAlking all over us as a whole... This can change we don't put up with it in feeder...
