Xmas Eve pick ups

I have never done extra during peak because someone was not there. The argument makes no sense. Routes are already going out maxed out during peak anyways.
They are? Tell the center manager to bring on more help.
If said driver got hurt or had cancer, no one would be angry? It’s UPS’s job to properly staff their operation. FMLA comes with a few weeks heads up, peak should be easy to cover a drivers job with either a seasonal driver or PVD or combination of both. It’s 12 weeks paid here now, And can be taken in two separate chunks. Most families have both spouses working these days, you think said drivers co workers care what time he gets done, or the company cares? We all know the answer is no, FMLA for childbirth is a no brainer during peak.
Come on. Three days, then back to work. Plenty of bonding hours every day.

Our pkg dispatcher was this old crotchety friend who had been at UPS for like 100 years. He used to threaten us a few days before a holiday that if we didn’t hand in our close list we’d be taking those packages for a ride all day. Whoopdy friend’n Doo. Big deal. Of course we weren’t going to hand them in. Why would we. So you could cut 27 routes. friend. U.
Most of us did the same thing and didn't turn in anything starting a few years ago cuz they were cutting too many routes and giving us stupid dispatches. They "fixed" that by switching to using historical data, so if any business on our route had been previously marked as closed on that day, the stuff was automatically held. Now we have businesses like "I was open, why didn't you deliver??"
