Car and Bike Talk

We used to paint our ice racing cars with a roller. They looked damn good from about 50 feet away.

I bought a 65 Pontiac Tempest wagon out of AZ that had been inherited from a grandma by her college bound grandkids. They didn't like the color so they roller painted it sears weatherbeater blue. I stripped that off and found pristine sheet metal underneath.

Just a 2 1/2 car garage. The rest is prep, prep, and more prep.

Ya know, I think this is my issue....I seem to have an increasingly growing problem with attention. I just don't have patience for this stuff anymore. When changing the brakes on my 'Vette, I had to step back and think if I wanted to continue. Why? No reason, I just didn't have the patience to do the rest. I wanted it done NOW!

Got my Harley apart now. Just top, intake part is all (which means taking the dash off, splitting the tanks, etc., just to rebuilt carb), don't feel like putting it back together. I want it done NOW!

Don't know if it's just my lazy attitude since I retired (I seem to want to just play all the time, maybe making up for lost time?), or something else that's affecting my work ethic. Gotta git this Harley done, Vette needs work, this '56 is all ready to go (just needing plumbing, elec, etc.) and here I sit doing this, or golfing, or swimming, or drinking.

I DO have to say that reading some of you guys posts about your projects is getting me stirred...so, here I sit again.

It's not just you.
This spring I put an aftermarket suspension under the Mustang in two days on my vacation. My fishing boat which was last years winter project is still sitting where it was parked for the winter. I know I want to fish, I just don't want to have to do all it takes to get the boat to the lake. The house in Mn has spoiled me because I can go down to the lake and step onto the boat at any time there.

It might just be an aging issue. You look for an easier , quicker way. Paying somebody to do it would be so much easier. Your time left keeps shortening and long term projects aren't as attractive as they once were.

Wow. Project cars, second houses....I must be the only one here with one income, a mortgage, car payment, 2 ankle biters and wife into retail therapy. I'm pretty much broke. You make me sad.

Hi to Danny, Steve, Horny Mike. Danny also has Vamp'd (club) with live bands (including his). Count's Vamp'd, Las Vegas

I will be there on Thursday and plan to see Rick, Chumley and the old man Gold & Silver Pawn Shop.

Don't count on seeing any of the "stars" of those popular shows. They are seldom there ---only when they are filming one of their supposedly "look what just came in the door" episodes that have been pre set up and rehearsed. A friend told me that you can't even get into the "Counts" place of business. You have to get through a security gate first and they don't let just any Joe Blow through. I stopped at the American Pickers building in LeClaire Iowa 2 years ago and it is open to the public (things are REALLY expensive) but you will NEVER see Danielle there and certainly not Mike or cheap skate Frank.

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
Already changed the starter in my ranger for about the 6th time in the 13 years I have had it.

Like clock work about every two years. Always tests good when I take it in. Anyone got any guesses as to why?

Is be on an aftermarket starter by now.
Yeah I bought a new starter the first time. Been warranty ever since. They test it says its good and the first few times I took it back put it in runs good for a month maybe two then strands me again.

Now I just bicker with them until they give me a new one.

They are probably just trading you back your old starters repeatedly. You trade in, they test them as OK, throw back into stock and back to you.

What is the failure like? No nothing? No engage? Dragging(high amps)?
