Which of these other part time low wage jobs allows you to become full time at $36+/hr with free health care and a pension ??

I seriously think that it's not the job but the way we are treated like complete dog crap. $10 / hr for this work environment? No way. $36 / hr on-road by yourself and only get treated like crap in the hub or through the DIAD? More tolerable.

$15 / hr after 1-year with full benefits to put up with UPS for 4 hours a day is probably the current going rate for 2018. Just being realistic in today's job market.

I agree. The contract this year is way more about work conditions than about pay.

I will also agree that the starting wage is low compared to other less physical jobs out there.

With the unemployment rate so low, UPS may need to rethink their peak business model.
Most of the turnover is seasonal related and you can't attract college students anymore.
Trying to almost double your work force xmas time is not working.
Having a stronger roster year round and not beating up your employees day-in day-out needs to be done.
If UPS just stopped playing games that would keep workers on board.

Handling cardboard is so tough it demands 15 bucks an hour?
Please....a monkey could do every PT job at UPS

When McDonalds pays more while you work less and get to flirt with the 19 year olds in shorts with questionable morals, why would any monkey choose UPS?

Listen up folks. UPS not being able to hire because they do not pay enough the first 5 years IS NOT OUR :censored2:ING PROBLEM!. UPS being unable to hire is not a contract issue!! Now pay after 5 years or upward mobility/advancement can be a contract issue, but allowing UPS a freebie contract negotiation chip because UPS does not pay enough to get people through the door is IDIOCY on the teamster's part!

Sorry, that has been bugging me for awhile now!

Totally agree !!
UPS was paying $100 attendance bonuses weekly in some places this peak.
The contract stipulates a bottom floor price, not what UPS has to do to get qualified applicants.

FTers at top rate are overpaid.

Our BA hinted about the creation of new combo jobs which could combine the preload and a few hours running off air and/or bulk stops on road or sweeping bulk pickups and/or drop boxes before working the night sort. These would be at a reduced rate of pay with a lesser healthcare plan.

If that happens I can only imagine how they will bastardize it

We also discussed Black Friday.

BF is gone and will more than likely be replaced with an additional option/personal day.

Let me explain in the simplest of terms so that even you can understand. IF BF is no longer holiday pay those of us who have historically had it off OR who have been paid comiserent to the time we miss from our families during a holiday what do you think is going to happen?

Seriously friend, how many do you think WILL NOT CALL IN THAT DAY? 10%, MAYBE 15%?

Without describing my center too much we could increase our routes up %4 with a near-linear increase in staffing, like 3 extra people. And adding an extra 20 preloaders we could expand up to a hard limit of %12

25 extra cars in a large hub is about it.

I did the math
Interesting. I think I've seen them stretch things close to 4%-5% in the past. Could be 150 cars in some hubs. The company really stretches things to the limit, before expansion. Just my guess/opinion, they'd have to increase close to 40%, maybe 50% more cars. Maybe close to that number of preloaders. Sorters? And there would still be a crap load of missloads, missorts and those cars would return smoking like a smoker at the end of the day. Missed pickups? It would be a disaster, even if they could increase cars by 40%. Total disaster. The question is, how long before they started to catch on? Maybe 2-3 weeks? Big shippers will NOT wait that long. We know it, (more importantly) and the company knows it to! Things would get smoother in 2-3 weeks, but problems would continue for over a month. Package drivers really are exceptional. Question is, how long till UPS can make new drivers.

Do you need an air compressor or tire gauge
Should be $8 over 4 years, but we've given so much over the years - it would take years to get to that point. The company is accustom to giving crap raises, and we've become accustom to accepting them!
with saturday delivery, we should at least get 6 bucks

Nope it's definitely a Greeves, the leading link front fork and the shape of the front fender is the giveaway.
I remember when I first seen a Greeves. A friend of mine showed up with it. Never heard of it at the time. Strange going to motorcycle shows now and seeing vintage motorcycles, that I rode as somewhat new!
I guess it beats being dead!

First the company got over with those BS $1000 bonuses. Enough of us caught on to that and it ended. Thank God! Then the company started with the .75 cent per years raises. Then UPS started dividing the .75 cent raise in twice per year (diminishing the .75 cents) again lowering the actual raise. The raises should be getting bigger!! Not smaller!
News Flash. Taking inflation into account. I'm not sure how long it's been that we've actually received a raise. It's been a Loooooong time!
