To be blunt, you have an unrealistic viewpoint when it comes to PT wages.
So a Union job should pay minimum wage and no benefits for a year and pay Union dues? To be blunt, too many FT employees have an unrealistic view of how much their labor is worth. $34/hr to dump trash cans and clean toilets?

FTers at top rate are overpaid.

Our BA hinted about the creation of new combo jobs which could combine the preload and a few hours running off air and/or bulk stops on road or sweeping bulk pickups and/or drop boxes before working the night sort. These would be at a reduced rate of pay with a lesser healthcare plan.

Sounds like just another concession. A combo employee doing package car driver work at a reduced rate of pay. And a reduced benefit plan? I am sure it will pass because "I got mine and now I can go home sooner."

Alternative compensation options like stock or bonuses index to company bottom line growth should be on the table. The industry is in catch up mode as far as wages and that's a good thing. Part time wages should be $15 an hour after a year.

to be accurate and not misleading please consider the overall total compensation and remember the high percentage of pt that do not stay long or draw health benefits...also the percent that is pt.....pt fund the pay and benefits for the ft.......ft should be thankful that pt are not organized and do not vote....

You truly are a real piece of work.

Get off your high horse !! I asked a simple question !!

My point is why would we trade something in contract negotiations when UPS has to do it anyways.
BTW, pampering the incoming employees is never going to be the center of contract negotiations, PERIOD.

Even at 15 bucks an hour, your benefits are worth more than your paychecks.
When you realize that you pay 0 for the latter, you can start organizing your group.

At a minimum $15/hr and after a year, let's negotiate. Otherwise UPS is just competing against all other low wage jobs.

Starting wage is a staffing issue at this point. Staffing issues are management's problem. We shouldn't waste too much time bargaining over that, UPS has backed themselves into a corner on that one.

I'm all for increasing wages for current employees, and having faster wage increases for part timers. But honestly, I don't care about people who don't even work here yet.

Which of these other part time low wage jobs allows you to become full time at $36+/hr with free health care and a pension ??

And those people who do not work here yet may just feel the same way as you.

eats packages

Deranged lunatic
What percentage do you estimate, they were able to add? If you have 100 cars, were they able to add at lease 15? Did it go fairly smooth?
Without describing my center too much we could increase our routes up %4 with a near-linear increase in staffing, like 3 extra people. And adding an extra 20 preloaders we could expand up to a hard limit of %12

25 extra cars in a large hub is about it.

I did the math
