215,909 dead Americans, 7.726+million infected. Yesterday saw America lose another 790 lives. It’s really sad that the President got a cocktail of drugs that saved his life and isnt pushing the drugs for all who suffer from Covid19. He pushed a failed drug called hydroxychloroquine than the cocktail he took. Texas again led in deaths with 100, Texas saw their infections double from Mon to Tues.
Have you brought this up at your union meetings? I'm sure they would love to hear all about it.

What makes a strain less virulent, or severe? What metric do you use? Different people react differently to the same strain. I say deaths and hospitalizations would be the best gauge. Cases will continue for at least a year to two years, that's expected. I haven't tracked hospitalization rates, but suspect they must not be very bad or we would be blasted with them non stop. So deaths are down and dropping, and hospitalizations are not an issue. Either the virus is getting milder, the people who have the worst reactions to it are being protected better, or they've mostly all already caught it. Seems like it must be one of those three, or some combination.
Mongrels with neanderthal genes are most severely affected by the Chinese Virus.

Sweden has a death rate from Covid19 that is in line with US deaths. Please know what youre talking about before posting. ‘It’s been so, so surreal.’ Critics of Sweden’s lax pandemic policies face fierce backlash

exactly only they're out of the woods and doing absolutely nothing to stifle peoples individual liberties.
herd immunity. they protected those that were susceptible and let everyone else live their daily lives.
they are down to almost no deaths now. one the last two days.
please know what you're talking about before posting your nonsense here.

Trump pushed hydroxychloroquine for Americans with Covid19. When he got Covid19 he took a different drug. He’s a snake oil salesman!

Trump did not choose the treatment . that was sillier than normal. There are hundreds of treatment options available depending on your own particular health issues and your doctor or team of doctors as in this case. choosing particular treatments does not mean the other 100 options did not have merit. you really should learn how to use google.

How can it be my fault that someone misunderstands me? I'm not in their head, I can't force them to read the words as written and not twist them.

Objectivity doesn't change regardless of the context. It all comes back to my original point. To say that opinion or perspective on a matter is more important than the matter itself is to say that there is no meaning, there is no objective reality, there is no truth. You say you are against nihilism, but denying objective reality in favor of your opinion on a matter is either nihilism or hubris.

If opinion outweighs fact, then there is no objective reality, because reality is whatever any particular person believes it to be. But this is all demonstrably false. The problem is that you have to solve the problem of solipsism in order to be able to accept the idea of objective reality. So, again, I'll ask, can you come up with a logical argument against the concept of solipsism? Not your opinion on it, not what your "experts" say. An argument based on logic whereby you can overcome the hurdle of solipsism. I have come up with two that I think are pretty solid, and a few that are kinda weak.

Also, I wasn't really arguing about masks. I was explaining why I'm right.
yea i dont know enough about philosophy to answer this. i like getting opinions and then reaching my own conclusion.

richard wolff quite often uses the example where he asks his class to tell him what they see. and you get a variety of answers. which points to perspective.

im going to listen to cornel west but i dont think that will give me enough help to answer it.

And there is the problem. You have no real way to prove to yourself that anything exists outside your own mind. It's not just you. Most people are unaware, but it is what is at the core of everyone's consciousness. René Descartes said it, "Cogito ergo sum", "I think, therefore I am". The problem is that we can't know for sure that our perceptions can be trusted, and that fact is easily demonstrated, but most people don't realize or think about it, or the implications. Trusting our senses is the default, but it is based on the assumption that they can be trusted.

well i think we know stuff exists outside our mind and that our mind is limited. for example some people see less colors than others. i dont know why but this should tell us that theres more out there than what we can percieve

i was listening to cornel west and he says democracy is fragile, and most people dont want to be free because it requires courage which is in short supply. i think he said alot of ppl like conforming and following orders.

How do you know anything exists outside your mind, and that everything you think you experience isn't just a dream or a hallucination? Literally everything you experience is electrical and hormonal input that your brain decodes. Even that idea may only be the machinations of my own mind. That is what everyone bases their view of reality on, assuming anyone but me actually exists.

Probably one of the most important things you can inform yourself about COVID 19.

Those who want to keep us locked down say they want to follow the science... But they don't really.

Why is this information not headline news?

The Great Barrington Declaration

As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection.

Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings, and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.

Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.

On October 4, 2020, this declaration was authored and signed in Great Barrington, United States, by:

Dr. Martin Kulldorff, professor of medicine at Harvard University, a biostatistician, an epidemiologist with expertise in detecting and monitoring infectious disease outbreaks and vaccine safety evaluations.
Dr. Sunetra Gupta, professor at Oxford University, an epidemiologist with expertise in immunology, vaccine development, and mathematical modeling of infectious diseases.
Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, professor at Stanford University Medical School, a physician, epidemiologist, health economist, and public health policy expert focusing on infectious diseases and vulnerable populations.

Then you have this laughable joke of a governor saying this just yesterday:

California governor's office tells diners to wear masks "in between bites"

The California governor's office put out a tweet on Saturday advising that restaurant-goers keep their masks on while dining. "Going out to eat with members of your household this weekend?" the tweet reads. "Don't forget to keep your mask on in between bites. Do your part to keep those around you healthy."

Totally backed up by science. LMAO!

Yet, this declaration is coming from both the left and right. Supported by science from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford's top epidemiologist. Are these not the people that dictators like Newsom claim they're following when they lock us down?

Why would u assume u even exist if everything else is bs? Even if we think everything is bs or a dream that doesnt stop us from doing something about the injustice in our dreams

We have to look at clues 2 where the evidence is pointing if we want to know the truth. Maybe there is no truth in some situations.

Also i would imagine death is almost the same as the nothingness before life except your actions in life may be resurrected by ppl who remember u.

Ive heard of brain in a vat but ive forgotten all the arguments against it.

Btw i walked by the high school today and i got the feeling alot of ppl werent wearing masks properly. I dont think its complicated though.

Free Will is a myth too, but you still have to live your life like it’s real.

Staff member in California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office tests positive for COVID-19

1602101732335.png

SACRAMENTO —
An office staff member for Gov. Gavin Newsom and another state employee who interacted with the governor’s administration personnel have both tested positive for COVID-19, though neither came in contact with Newsom or his top advisors, a spokesman for the governor said Wednesday.

Look out Gavin, the COVID is coming for you. He probably forgot to enforce putting their masks on in between bites. Shame, shame. :wink-very:
