How many infected people brought it in initially? You can lock down until you only have a few cases and in months you'll be back to a full blown pandemic. And so far no lock down has reduced numbers that much. What we need is a vaccine and herd immunity through the build up of antibodies. Having everyone hiding at home won't stop the spread, only slow it.
