Where is the trouble coming from if a Steward informs an employee the night before that UPS will be talking to him in the morning about dishonesty?

From the employee?
From the Union?
From UPS?

And as a Steward, I would be calling him anyway to find out what was going on, what he was doing, what UPS might have on him, so that I am not going into the meeting "blind."
