The only thing I don't really get is why Juneteeth . It kind of doesn't make any sense . It really should be the day of the emancipation proclamation , the day was signed by Lincoln . That should be the real celebration day !!! Could it be because they don't want to acknowledge a hero and Republican president !!! And the hero soldiers that gave their lives !!!

It will be fine

The holiday began in Texas. It was the date the union soldiers showed up to enforce emancipation. The Texans weren’t really on board until guys with guns made them comply.

Here...this should explain it better than words. That "Army ship" arrived and the rest is Black History...

And slavery continued in other states for a few months after the Texas event. We just made a state holiday a national holiday for no reason.

So you agree that it's stupid to pick a random event in Texas rather than have an emancipation day. Okay
That’s not it all what I said. It was not a random event, it was actually a freeing of the slaves by the army that came on a boat. The slavery that persisted after that was in the Indian territories which were not part of the United States at the time.

How bad are the schools in Texas? Selective history?

The Indian territories, i.e. Oklahoma, were part of the United States at the time.

Actually slavery persisted in other states, I'm not sure why you're insisting on being a bigot against Indians.

You must have been brainwashed by some stupid left wing teachers Susie.

But the most important part of history was the civil war and assigning of the emancipation proclamation which set most slaves across the nation free . That long with soldiers giving their lives for the cause should really be the holiday to celebrate !!! And once again yesterday I did not see or hear one mention or poster or picture or one person mention President Lincoln and I find that very interesting !!! They could have had a big celebration and parade around the Lincoln memorial yesterday , but nothing very interesting !!!

You’re missing the point. The emancipation proclamation made slaves free as a matter of law. In practice that wasn’t the case. Juneteenth celebrates the realization of freedom. I really don’t understand why this makes you guys so upset.
