You were very clear that @Wally didn't know what he was talking about when he said the cradle did nothing more than charge the diad. You boldly said he was wrong. What else does the cradle do?
Here's a syllogism about UPS diad cradles:

All equipment used in UPS logistics operations incurs a cost.
Diad cradles are equipment used in UPS logistics operations.
Therefore, UPS diad cradles cost money.

Once you have area knowledge you don't need maps or navigation. Of course I need to scan/take pictures/stop complete/cir.

The diad never goes into the cradle. Orion can only update in the cradle
I don't think that's true. I constantly have to wait for the "Itinerary Updated" prompt to come up after stop completing a stop. No cradle interaction necessary.

If it's oopis these days I would not be surprised if seemingly irrelevent information like the active selected stop or cradle % usage is taken into account to trigger a threshold for when it might consider time to scramble the board again.

Some time in the afternoon I try to knock out some 30 or so residential stops before breaking back off for commercial: diad is in my side pocket the whole time, literally no time to use the cradle if I wanted to. but I can assure you on some days it will update on every single last one of the stops I complete because it wants me back there a whole hour earlier.

It's a cell phone. What does the charger do other than charge the unit?

Anybody who had the bent pin/no diad charge problem knows the unit still updates. Definitely doesn’t update in cell phone dead zones.

Maybe different geographic areas update different?
It's not just a charger it fixes freeze ups and amplifies the antenna.
