They showed a picture of the MOAB exploding and she said, "You can see it looks like a nuclear bomb."

I agree with that.
I copied and pasted the fission part, (which was only partly correct)... my word was nuclear which covers all aspects of releasing energy from the nucleus of atoms.
Chemical bombs operate on stripping and exchanging the electrons of an atom.

Overlooked that in my pasted text.
It is actually neither ... a thermonuclear bomb uses fission to create fusion which then triggers a greater fission reaction than just a single fission bomb.

Why I felt it important to point out that ISIS stood for Islamic State in Iraq & Syria. In more scholarly circles you will hear ISIL and in the common day circles, you'll hear ISIS.
