MOAB

I was flipping through channels and happen to stop on CNN while Erin Burnett covered the MOAB bomb.
They showed a picture of the MOAB exploding and she said, "You can see it looks like a nuclear bomb."
Old Spicey hasn't said anything near that stupid in the last 6 months.

The MOAB has a blast equivalent of 1,100 tons of TNT
versus
16,000 tons of TNT for the Little Boy nuclear bomb.

The B83, a bomb that uses the fission->fusion->fission process, releases a blast equivalent to 1,200,000 tons of TNT, making it 80 times more powerful than Little Boy and about 109,000 times stronger than the MOAB.

B83 is a fusion bomb.

B83 is a fusion bomb.
Yes ... a nuclear bomb.
Nuclear refers to the nucleus of the atom.

Thermonuclear bombs start with the same fission reaction that powers atomic bombs — but the majority of the uranium or plutonium in atomic bombs actually goes unused. ... This fusion process releases neutrons, which feed back into the plutonium-239, splitting more atoms and boosting the fission chain reaction.

You used the term fission while ONG contends that it should have been fusion.
Thermonuclear that uses fission to initiate fusion.

Not a simple fission A-bomb.
I agree with that.
I copied and pasted the fission part, (which was only partly correct)... my word was nuclear which covers all aspects of releasing energy from the nucleus of atoms.
Chemical bombs operate on stripping and exchanging the electrons of an atom.

We had a driver (since retired) who was in a Tuesday night bowling league.

You did not want to be anywhere near him Wednesday mornings. :(

You guys should have bought his beer and eggs at the bowling alley on the condition he stand next to the center manager for Wednesday morning PCM's. The laughs would be worth the money or you'd guarantee a very quick PCM.

Why I felt it important to point out that ISIS stood for Islamic State in Iraq & Syria. In more scholarly circles you will hear ISIL and in the common day circles, you'll hear ISIS.
Among most Arabs, the term for ISIS/ISIL is "Daesh"

Levant also includes the area of Israel so saying ISIL is a way to deny the existence of Israel. Plus they are far more geographically limited than they like to admit so ISIS is generally more accurate.

Some world leaders, such as French President François Hollande, prefer to call it “Daesh,” an Arabic acronym that can double as an insult depending on how it is conjugated.

“Daesh” can mean “to trample down and crush” or “a bigot who imposes his view on others,” making the term a highly offensive one to the group, the Boston Globe reported. ISIS has threatened “to cut the tongue of anyone” caught publicly referring to it as Daesh.

Regardless of all other factors, the military strike in Syria last week has all but been replaced in the news cycle.
