They weren't at war with England at the time they entered the war on our side. So my point stands.
Only assuming your definition of war. Its to narrow.

Yes, even before formally entering the American Revolutionary War in 1778, France was effectively engaged in a shadow war with Britain in several ways:

1. Financial and Material Support: Starting in 1775, France provided substantial clandestine aid to the American colonies through dummy trading companies, particularly Pierre Beaumarchais's Roderigue Hortalez et Cie. They supplied crucial military supplies, weapons, and ammunition.

2. Military Expertise: France secretly sent military advisers and officers to assist the Continental Army, with the Marquis de Lafayette being the most famous example. Many French officers provided valuable military expertise before formal French involvement.

3. Diplomatic Undermining: French diplomats actively worked to weaken British influence and strengthen ties with the colonies. They engaged in secret negotiations and agreements, particularly through agents like Silas Deane and Benjamin Franklin.

4. Naval Harassment: French ships would occasionally interfere with British naval operations, though carefully maintaining plausible deniability.

5. Economic Warfare: France deliberately allowed American privateers to sell British prizes in French ports, effectively enabling economic warfare against Britain while maintaining technical neutrality.

This pattern of undeclared conflict fits what we might today call a proxy war or covert warfare. The French engaged in many hostile acts while maintaining official peace, similar to how modern nations might engage in cyber operations or economic warfare without formal declarations of war.

We've been doing a lot of that to Russia on behalf of Ukraine. Are we at war with Russia? You went way out of your way to ultimately confirm that France wasn't at war with England until they formally entered on our side. Before that I believe the previous state of war between the countries was the French and Indian War. Of course they fought a number of wars later and historically had fought quite a few with England.

Yes I am.
Which is why instead of answering it I asked you why you think it's relevant. Did you really not know that?

Then why did you respond to my post about the brainwashed nutcases that obsess about Ukraine? He blew himself up and the other one tried to assassinate Trump FFS.

Odd you jumped so eagerly to defend their war. Don't go blowing yourself up.
You didn't ask me if I thought it was relevant Strawman.

Bless your heart.

Considering you started the quarrel with name calling I'll assume you'd be a fool to continue.
A debate is not a quarrel. You seem to want to take it to the quarrel route which is why I posted that. Arguments were made “Are you a Boomer was a point of reference question” Which you never answered. Turn down the gaslighting! I was making good faith arguments and many of them were not answered. You admitted your ignorance on the past eighty years of post war phenomenon which is where a lot of our conversations should be directed. That’s not name calling. My only fault was not giving you the last word which I will do now.
