Microsoft tries to do that but you need to make sure your update settings won't allow those updates. And there are a couple of updates that trigger everything you either shouldn't install or should delete before anything happens.

A big thing is to uncheck recommended updates are installed like important ones. The other bad updates are just nags you can get rid of.

I'm on windows 10 and it's pretty nice. Came from windows 7 which was the best then to 8 which sucked and now on 10.

YOU WANT THE UPDATES ESPECIALLY THE SECURITY ONES... Not sure what oldy is smokin...
