I got another letter from Central States. It said that since their rescue plan was rejected they weren't going to even try to submit another plan. It sounds like they are going to play political football with retirees being the ball.

They could have modified their plan. The government didn't reject every idea, just that the way they tried to unfairly make UPS pay more was illegal. It sounds like their new plan is to let it fail in the forlorn hope of a government bailout.

I am protected by UPS ... for now. It will certainly be a contract issue in the future as UPS will use it as leverage to get other concessions. Or it will just go away when the people who don't care about the long term go for the quick buck. That is if the union doesn't just unilaterally screw us regardless of votes.
