Why would Fred Z be at the UPS JAC grievance panel ?
He's there just to hobnob, campaign, and spend the members dues money....
Or, he's there representing the members by acting as a BA.
Funny, he doesn't complain about going to Florida in February....
on the members dime.
-Bug-
To be fair...there's more than a few PO's of local unions attending mtgs in Florida in February. Most bylaws instruct PO's to supervise their agents.
For those that are unaware, and as is the protocol, each year UPS chooses two locations and the CRT chooses the other two for the four annual JAC mtgs.
Nonsensical (to me) why any CRT mtg is allowed to be scheduled outside of the CRT's jurisdiction, including in Chicago.
My Local sent 4 Officers to Florida last week, to withdraw one discharge case, leaving the part time Recording Secretary to chair the Monthly Membership Meeting on Thurday evening.
I believe that they were thankful that the once "status quo" 2 day JAC Discharge Panel in Chicago was once again cancelled this year, allowing them to make the glorious trip to the "Sunshine State".
For those who aren't familiar, the Central Region used to have an extra JAC panel in Chicago, a few weeks prior to the one in Florida, for discharges only.
This was to keep ordinary members from making the trip to Florida and getting a glimpse of the proceedings and extracurricular activities.
Kudos to the CRD for ending this ridiculously transparent and costly practice.
In 2017, my alternate steward had a case that was deadlocked on a "point of order" to the JAC in Florida, until the Labor Manager and BA realized that my alternate and myself were planning to make the trip.
Ironically, the Labor Manager abruptly withdrew the "point of order", making our presence unnecessary, while they both made the trip anyway, with no cases on the docket.
I'm sure the trip bore fruit for them both anyway.
