Many of us aren't so opposed to tax hikes that we won't consider them. We just know it's foolhardy to increase taxes without addressing the spending problem first. Fix the spending then we'll talk taxes to complete the job.

The math is pretty simple : Just go back to pre-Bush times, when Clinton ran a surplus.
Whatever Bush implemented, take that away (tax cuts and medicare part B).
However, with the higher national debt there is more interest to pay, I suppose you can cover that by making further major all around cuts and maybe a small tax increase.

I have a good idea,

lets stop giving money to foreign countries, and keep it here. So we can fix our problems. Just a suggestion.

Obama is planning the big old meetings this week. Every member of the house of one party and then every member of the other party. What a photo op grandstanding play and totally pointless!! Overkill !

He needs the leaders of the sides in a much smaller meeting.......... He needs to explain to America why his own party has not supplied any sort of budget for 770 days or something close to that # and how they just said 'no' to anything the Republicans have put forth.. It's their responsibility to yearly make a budget. All of the Dems. voted 'no' on Obama's submitted budget!! What's with that? His own party thinks his budget was BS.

People making their budgets for their huoseholds have more sense than congress!!
