Aren't you happy with Obamacare?
It's not Obamacare, it's Fred S. FedEx is self insured and sets premiums and coverage. He has been tweaking our plan every year way before Obamacare. This year he decided to really stick it to us. You guys have the protection of a contract and union to negotiate your benefits. Most greedy companies are hiding behind Obamacare only to increase profits.

As bad as the monthly premiums are with Obamacare the real tragedy is the huge yearly deductibles before the insurance even kicks in.

You are retired. If you have UPS insurance and a UPS pension. You don't qualify for ACA. You make too much money, even being retired, to qualify for subsidies.

What is your beef? That you're not poor enough to get a kickback?

Inordinately Right
Exactly. And we will get taxed a 40% surcharge to keep our own plan yet are ineligible for subsidies.
Why spread misinformation man? There's plenty about the ACA to complain about without making stuff up.

Beginning in 2018, a 40 percent excise tax will be imposed on the value of health insurance benefits exceeding a certain threshold. The thresholds are $10,200 for individual coverage and $27,500 for family coverage (indexed to inflation).
Mine shows DD on line 12c 18994.92 it came in the mail today.
Mine, too. Family plan.
Does anyone with a single plan care to share?
I am PT. Mine shows 5526.96. I was very suprised.

Who couldn’t have predicted this would be a problem? Of course, if the folks involved in Obamacare had actually built a payment back end to the system for the millions of dollars we had to shell out, this wouldn’t be an issue. But ineptitude reigns…

Via WSJ:

Insurers are struggling to get their premium payments from people who signed up for coverage through the health-law marketplaces, leaving many plans with fewer enrollees than expected at the start of the new year.

Friday was the deadline the industry set last month for people to pay for coverage that started Jan. 1. A big gap between the roughly two million people the government said selected plans in the marketplaces and those who actually pay—the final step to getting coverage—could pose a fresh challenge for the Obama administration. It also raises the stakes for small health plans and startups that are relying heavily on the marketplaces for business.

Smaller customer pools are riskier for insurers, partly because there may be too few healthy customers to offset even a handful of costly patients.

Several insurers have said that despite the Jan. 10 cutoff, they will have to informally continue to accept payments that flow in late. Others, including several of the biggest, officially pushed back their deadlines to later in the month.

“It’s been pulling teeth,” said Shaun Greene, chief operating officer of Utah-based Arches Health Plan, a startup. As of Thursday, Arches had collected about 60% of premiums for people who signed up for coverage that took effect Jan. 1. He said Arches would urge customers in email and phone calls to pay for at least a few more days, even after the deadline.

Senator Mike Lee:
Behold my display of the 2013 Federal Register. It contains over 80,000 pages of new rules, regulations, and notices all written and passed by unelected bureaucrats. The small stack of papers on top of the display are the laws passed by elected members of Congress and signed into law by the president.

VET'S BACKLASH AGAINST OBAMA
On Sunday, January 12, 2014 10:57 AM

URGENT! A movement has been started by our armed forces, to get out the vote in 2014.. They are organizing themselves, but this can be done by all of us. The President, the Commander in Chief, has made the Rules of Engagement (ROE) so difficult, that our troops are often killed before they can even get permission to fight. Nothing has been done to stop our troops from being murdered by Afghanis they are training, either. Now, the President wants the US to sign on to the UNs International Criminal Court (ICC), which would allow the UNs ICC to arrest and try US troops for War Crimes, without the legal protections guaranteed under US Law, and from which there is no appeal. The President, with his Democratic control of the Senate, has nearly all the power. If the Non-Establishment Republicans, and Conservatives, can take back the Senate in 2014, our troops can once again be protected from unnecessary danger. Please consider this, and send it on to your mailing lists. Thank You

Interestingly enough, when GWB was president you heard about the the military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan almost daily. With Obama in the White House, the mainstream media has been strangely quiet. ---
More than 1,000 American soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan in the last 27 months. This is more than the combined total of the nine years before. Thirty have died in August. During the last month, over 50 additional NATO and US servicemen have been murdered, inside jobs by those who are hired to be a force for good in Afghanistan.
The commander in chief is AWOL. Not a peep, although he ordered the White House flag flown at half-staff for the Sikhs that were killed. There is a deep disgust, a fury, growing in the ranks of the military against the indifferent incompetence of this president.
It has taken on a dangerous tone. No one knows what to do about him, but the anger runs deep as the deaths continue with no strategic end in sight to the idiocy of this war. Obama has had 4 years to end this futile insanity, during which time he
has vacationed, golfed, campaigned, and generally ignored the plight of our men and women in uniform. But, there is now a movement afoot in the armed services to launch a massive get out the vote drive against this president.
Not just current active duty types, but the National Guard, Reserves, the retired, and all other prior service members. This is no small special interest group, but many millions of veterans who can have an enormous impact on the outcome of the November election if they all respond.
The million military retirees in Florida alone could mean an overwhelming victory in that state if they all show up at the polls. It might not keep another one hundred U.S. troops from dying between now and November, but a turn out to vote by the military against this heart breaking lack of leadership can make a powerful statement that hastens a change to the indifference of this shallow little man who just lets our soldiers die.
