Soooo....if Romney wins the popular vote, but loses the Electoral College, are you Romney supporters okay with that?

.

I don't claim to be a Romney supporter but the electoral college is the best system. I think the federalism argument would soar over most peoples heads here but we are a collection of states and our constitution consistently refers to the United States.

I read an article and the guy made a nice analogy. He said during the World Series we do not add up the total number of runs scored but we decide the winner based on thenumber of games won. Without an electoral college our presidential election would become no more than the candidates campaigning on who would take the most from the other states and give it to California.

So you support a Republic?

Like I've said previously across multiple threads...

ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE.

What exactly is the problem with this concept?

You have your ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE in your state. Our nation however is a collection of states.

You are missing my point...

(In fact, I don't have the 'one person-one vote'...the only place in my state that has direct-democracy (1 person 1 vote) is CAMBRIDGE,MA.)

My point is, the EC is fckd, we live in a Republic, not a Democracy.

And you disagree with me, how?

. Just as in 2008, OBAMA has hit the magic number of 49%...

It has been some time since we have seen you post about how this cycle is the same as 2008. I can only wonder why? Where are your propaganda updates lately? Did the Obama campaign bounce a check to you or something?

Consider something. Likely voters probably does not include those who have already voted, correct? So to some degree one would expect Obama's poll number to drop, correct? And Obama is out polling in the "already voted" by 2 to 1? I'd say we have a dead heat on...still.

Polls also are a reflecting of a 2008 turnout which gives DEMS a huge turnout that they will not have compared to 2008 and also REP most likely will have a larger turnout than 2008...so I dont believe it is close at all...Obama is probably down by double digits.

Warning: I don't know any more about this than John King or Chuck Todd.
A fun exercise in futility but this is what I came up with on a state by state selection. Only after selecting the states did I look at the totals.
Essentially, if I am wrong on any one state, Obama will win.

I tried not to choose either candidate but used the criteria of the incumbent must have 48.5% and lead by 3-this is probably skewed in favor of Obama according to James Carville but I set the criteria up before I selected states.

CLEVELAND (AP) — A new poll shows President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney dead even in the swing state of Ohio.

The poll published Sunday by Ohio’s biggest newspapers shows Obama and Romney each with 49 percent.
The poll was conducted among 1,015 likely voters who were reached by land line telephones and cellphones between Oct. 18 and Oct. 23. Some were called before the final presidential debate Oct. 22.
