You must come from a brutal world. Zimmerman should have stayed in his vehicle and let the police handle the situation. But Zimmerman didn't pull out his pistol to shoot Martin until after Martin knocked him down, got on top of him, in the dark, in the rain, and was bashing Zimmerman's head into the sidewalk. No matter how irritating it may be to have someone question your right to be somewhere, that doesn't give you the right to physically attack them.
