I’d definitely say an apple stealing whore is committing criminal mischief and if you’re on someone else’s property screwing with their property at night time, god help your soul.

If they were trying to take him to the police station themselves I could see fighting back in his position.
If they were sitting there waiting for the cops or being told he needed to stop and wait I don’t see a point.
I wouldn’t want anyone abducting me either and wouldn’t blame him for choosing to die in the spot instead of going with armed strangers.

Even if I had committed a felony, if these clowns were telling me it’s time to go for a ride I’d be very skeptical of them not going to vigilante murder me out in the Georgia woods in some horrible way.
I’d be weighing my options and how I’d want to die at that point. I’d probably go with them but the first sign of not heading towards the police station it’d be time to die by shotgun in a fight.

The law might not be on their side. Burglary is tough to prove if nothing was stolen and trespassing isn’t a felony in Georgia so I’m pretty sure they lose their right to detain him.
I’m sure they are aiming for a plea deal and to avoid a death sentence at this point.
