Arbery's past is irrelevant.

At worst, he was trespassing/prowling/casing the construction site.

He didn't steal anything. And he wasn't equipped to steal and transport anything of significance or value from a typical construction site.

Bubba and Cletus did everything OK. Until the moment one of them exited the vehicle to confront Arbery while armed.

Considering the alleged crime, that particular action was very unwarranted, unnecessary, provocative, and stupid.

In the end, three idiots found each-other. A messy result is no surprise.

Arbery's past is relevant, because it confirms that they were right about him.

It doesn't matter if they knew that past. It matters that they clearly had enough background in the area, neighborhood, and context clues to be right about him. They were acting on what counted as immediate knowledge.

He was looking for an excuse to use his new toy. And so Pasty got his wish and fired his gun eight times that night, four shots at an unarmed Joseph Rosenbaum, two shots at an unarmed unknown individual, one shot at an unarmed Anthony Huber and one shot at an armed Gaige Grosskreutz.
You don't have to let people shoot at you first.

It's perfectly fine to shoot unarmed people who are able and trying to kill you.

What planet are you on?
