Seniority Part Timers Employees Got Screwed Again on Tentative contract!!!

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
And all your whining about whiners changes nothing either right? And around and around we go. This is a discussion forum is it not? Again if don’t agree with what I am saying that’s perfectly fine. Formulate a response as to why and let’s talk about it.
Find another job if you’re not happy. Obviously you won’t because you make a decent wage, AND you have one of the best healthcare plans in America for your 4 urchins.

Everyone is getting at least a $7.50 raise and the starting rate is being bumped up to $21 then it's going up to $23. I think the raises are pretty significant.
I may be wrong but I believe the $7.50/hr over the course of the contract is for FTers only.

Never mind----I was wrong. The GWI's are for all hourly employees.

I think the point with PT workers is that this current crap contract we are on, UPS had to start significantly raising starting pay due to increased minimum wage raises in many states and the fact that many places like McDonald's were paying more than UPS. So UPS increased starting pay, but left the other PT workers with several years seniority out to dry. The current contract we are finishing should have had some sort of bump in pay for PT'ers like this "longevity raise" that is in place for the new contract. So knowing this, SOB campaigned, particularly near the end of this process, that PT'ers must have increased starting pay and catch up raises for those longer term PT workers who got nothing last contract. So I think most would expect something substantial with the way SOB beat this drum with talk of working through Covid, UPS record profits and PT employees living off food stamps. He REALLY played this up and demanded UPS "pay up" to those employees who produced those record profits for UPS. Then we got this 11th hour deal.......50 cents/5-9 years, $1.00/10-14 years, $1.50/15 years and up "longevity raise." Nice general raise first year of contract $2.75), but .75 cents the second and 3rd year? That is at or less than the second and third year of this current, soon to expire awful contract. IMO, this is pretty lousy considering all the hype surrounding this process.

Why would I be annoyed ?
That means driver pay progression was eliminated and a coworker doing the same job as me is paid accordingly.
You're not really making a good argument here.
Of course there's progression.

Should all teamsters doing the same job be paid the same? 100%
Should new hires follow the progression laid forth in the contract that gets them there? 100%
Should we eliminate progression? I WISH

If a PT >5 years gets bumped to $21, and a new hire is also paid $21. I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of that PT, and I think I would definitely feel a certain way because the perception feels off, and I understand their feelings.

I also don't think they're viewing this as we are all one. That's why 22.4s - two tier- system was destroyed. Paying two groups who do the same job different wages is bullocks.

McDonald’s doesn’t pay healthcare
This has nothing to do with healthcare. McDonald's does offer a healthcare plan, but not knowing the particulars, I'm sure it's not for 20-25 hour a week employees. UPS is a very unique company in that respect. Most of these younger guys who come in PT and work for a few years max don't give a rat's ass about healthcare, particularly if they are on their parent's plan until they are 26.

Maybe UPS should eliminate healthcare for pt workers then. No one cares about healthcare until they need it. These “younger” guys need to find a full time job.

Offering a healthcare plan and paying for it are 2 different things.

Hey man you are painting with a very wide brush. Not all pt workers think they should make driver pay. I certainly don’t. Your comments about wanting to to be classed differently doesn't make since to the discussion. There has been and always will be people who make significantly more or less pay as a pt worker. Years worked has almost always had a monetary value attached to years worked until this contract. Not having a top pay as a pt worker creates that environment. I am and will continue to be paid different because of years of service. As the pay of the workers varies so much. It isn’t about being classed as something other than being a pt worker. It’s about valuing a ten year worker more than a recently hired worker. This contract has changed that dynamic significantly.
Let me give you a little advice
Worry about your own paycheck.

Use your "seniority" to pick a better job or more hours.
You already lost if you're going to compare and contrast wage to value.
Seniority allows you to choose. Your choice is to worry about other people's wage which leads to insanity.

You want to be more valued because you were here 10 years ????

Let me give you some more advice.
WE ALL ARE JUST EMPLOYEE NUMBERS TO UPS
THEY DONT GIVE A FLYING 💩 IF YOUVE BEEN HERE LONGER THAN EMPLOYEE X
All you get is to choose vacations and jobs before them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would save UPS a lot of money with the optional check box for PT people "No, I don't want healthcare benefits". But Union won't allow that.

Then go somewhere else to work.

Wait. The $2.75 general raise isn't applied After the automatic bump to $21?

Having 6 years over the newbies and only a $1.50, maximum, above them is gonna suuuuuck. That said, it is what it is.
Unfortunately this happens in every company. As the floor raises, very rarely their is an adjustment for the folks that put in their time. Especially in a union environment you can't go to the boss and ask for a raise.

Pt sups may get an adjustment but if there's nothing down the pipeline I expect some of them will demand a raise. Right now there's barely a reason to be a PT sup u less they have vision of outgrowing that position rather quickly in either ops or pivot to other functions.

Nobody in UPS can go to the boss and ask for a raise except Carol (going to board of directors).
