Many government workers do not pay into SS, they have their own plans, teachers unions for example.

The plan is going broke. The logical step is to stop the bleeding first. Since people live a lot longer than when the plan was implemented decades ago, it's not unreasonable to increase the retirement age.
why dont they pay into it? corruption? were they promised and then it wasnt done?

Congress has had some 30 years to correct the SS problems, but they refused to do so.
I have planned for the 24% decrease that is coming soon.
I can absorb the losses, but those that are now barely surviving on SS will not.

W bush tried privatizing it

they have been corrupt for about that long too.

they want it to fail and then privatize.

Social Security was only intended to be a supplement and not your only source of income.
