OK. Let me make this simple.

The starting rate for a PTer Aug 1, 2022 was $15.50

The starting rate for a PTer Aug 1, 2023 will be $21.00

That's a $4.50 raise immediately when over the past 30 years the rate only went up $7.50.
You didn’t Make it “ Simple”

You used Oversimplification to skirt my main argument , in essence you countered with a straw-man argument whether knowingly or unwittingly.

Behind the scenes without the rank and file members sob keeps saying about on the committee?
I have no idea but as Ovah said it seemed strange that they came back to the table and had a handshake within an hour----barely enough time for introductions or to sit down with their plates from the breakfast buffet.

Yes, there were back channel talks going on throughout the "downtime" from 7/5 to 7/25.

There is not a whole lot of choice besides PVD's. They cannot get enough jumpers like they once used to be able to do. And there are not enough rental vehicles to get for peak. Hell, last year, we were shipping them in from other states because there were not enough locally to run peak.

And, PVD's are actually a seasonal package car driver that just happens to drive their own vehicle. And again, this is because there are not enough rental vehicles to go around.
I believe that the usage is reduced to five weeks with current part timers getting priority for the work available.

This looks like a decent contract to me. $2.75 raise? I remember the contracts in the past we were happy to get $1.00 a year. Got rid of 22.4, that's a big one. Somebody working full-time hours should get the same pay and benefits as a full-time driver. I figured the cost would be $30B, that's right in the middle of the initial demands from both parties. UPS puts a certain amount of money on the table, they don't care about how the Teamsters divide it up between PT and FT. I'm not expecting a pension increase as a retiree. Once you quit moving boxes or pay union dues you are forgot about.
Yes Scratch , I too was sort of happy to get a while dollar raise at one point in time.

But I also remember a time when I was appalled at the thought of paying more than a single dollar for a coffee, or over $2.00 for gas , or 4% our more for a mortgage rate…You get the picture.

Times are different ; you can’t even but a small bag of chips for $2.75

It’s maddening people gladly settle for the scraps their phony masters Chuck their way.

Did they leave the top rate alone for new FT drivers in progression? If so, that is going to be a HUGE jump from 90% up to top rate. It used to be in the $10-11/hr range---it is now going to be much higher. Time to max out the 401k's.

Wait, as a retiree are you expecting to get raises?

Too early to tell. We just got a few points shared with us not many other details.

Most should take the raise and invest unfortunately most will blow it and complain about it.
