TENTATIVE AGREEMENT REACHED AT UPS

I made it simple.

The starting PT rate went from $15.50 to $21.00. That is a 35% raise.
Yeah, you are either ignorant/misinformed/an idiot. As a federal contractor, UPS is obligated to pay $16.20 an hour which here, will allow you to squat in a vacant lot. So friend you, Mr. I got mine.

I'm not trying to pull you back so feel free to enjoy your rum and cokes--

thing is, though, 22.4's knew our payscale but we were outright lied to about our job duties. There was no inside work. There was no combination employment. We drove full-time and were forced in for more 6th punches than any RPCD in the center. We did the same thing as RPCDs day-in and day-out, but because the company played classification games we weren't compensated equally.
Why is no one talking about the fact that these raises are basically adjusted COLA's that put us somewhere near where we were before inflation butt:censored2:ed everybody?

The ultimate result is a pay decrease after 5 years. Who KNOWS how bad inflation will be then. Oh hey you make $49 an hour stop complaining! Yeah and gas costs $9 a gallon and buying groceries for a week cost $300. Can't wait to see how that turns out.

I don't look at making $49/hr plus pension health welfare to deliver as getting screwed. It could be better but it's all pretty damn good.
This. As someone who came to UPS from another field that required a college education, I can tell you we are compensated very very well.

When my white-collar friends found out what I made and that I had no deductibles they couldn't believe it. Now we have FT drivers on Reddit hollering about wanting covid back pay NOW, $50/hr NOW etc etc

This is exactly what I mean.

Please address the problem of inflation. Are you saying that we are compensated so greatly that we should just eat a 20% decrease in spending power? I really don't understand.

To be honest though a lot of people on reddit want $15an hour 20hr a week just to exist in the world. From that perspective $50/hr now for the work drivers put in doesn't seem all that extreme

They gave over $30B.

I'm sure Carol is happy to get it over with and stop the bleeding and maybe get some volume back. I'll be happy to get all the laid off people back to work. We have too many laid off. Palatine just lost CDW. Almost five 53 ft. trailer per day.

Then again, there are people that would give up every gain we got, vote no and start over from square one. They will never be satisfied.

Yep

You guys starting pay was way higher than mine was in progression as a rpcd.

Again, I'm not tripped up about wages. I started making 8.50/hr and I'm on track for top-rate within the year. I'm doing fine.

I'm just highlighting how the entire 22.4 position was a bait-and-switch move. We were sold on one thing and ended up receiving something completely different (well... slightly different.)

Are you saying that the great SOB, who eliminated the 2/3 rule would push a contract through??

Say it ain't so.
he wouldn't have recommended this contract if you didn't think it was the best possible we could get without going on strike.

It's the same to me people live in Fantasyland and not in the real world
Maybe it's not 100% perfect but it's a lot better than anything I've ever seen in my lifetime at this place

Do you have a link to the details, by any chance?
