Let's see.

Over the past 30 years, the PTers got a $7.50 raise. That's $0.25/yr.

They will get around $11-$15 over the next 5 years. Looks like a win.
That’s not a win…

Here’s an example:

We’re supposedly getting stoned $7.50 raises over life if this contract.

If I said to you , “ you’ll get $7.50 raises over the life of the contract , but it will all come during the last year of the contract;

Would you be happy ?

That’s essentially what you’re saying here with part timers

Add up all the raises over the last 20/30 years and then look at the sum ;
Then put it mostlyAt the back end
( like they have just done)” over 30 years)

See ???

These contract wins are a joke when you consider we’re winning stuff in the contract that should or already is our right to have

Another example: forced sixth punch
THERES NO Fing forced sixth punch to begin with. People are such lemmings that they just come in to work when told
“they must “

Some on here don't care. They will find any excuse to strike to "pay back" UPS for the way they are treated.

I've said before, give them $100/hr and they would still strike. It's not perfect, but we made huge gains. Hoffa couldn't have even come close to what SOB got. And we can't expect to get everything at once. We got most everything. I'm sure, there is already plans, on what to get, for the next contract.
I'm lying if I say I'm not disappointed with the up front increase, I wanted $3.50 minimum, but overall I'm satisfied. The 6th punch and deletion of 22.4 language is huge. I'll have to see the HWP package to really make up my mind.

0.25 yr is a joke and explains RTW states

you are counting being force by the government raising of minimum wage and inflationary pressures that allow McDonalds workers to make $20 an hour to force a $21 minimum as a win…it’s not. anytime a union job is comparable to minimum wages is an absolute joke…

…and it $6.20 total from years 2-5 that won‘t even cover what rent, insurance, energy prices, and other expenses will be going up.

So a PT’er making less than $20:

Say those that started in 2013—which started at $8.50 per hour and now make $19.30–in places without MRA’s) would get a $2.75 taking them to $22.05 (above the $21 magic threshold) and then $1.50 catch up raise taking them to $23.55.

A 5 year part that started (again without MRA’s) in 2018 will now make that $21 minimum plus the $1.50 catch-up taking them to $22.50.

So 10 years of service is worth:
$0.355 more per year than a new hire or $2.55 more total
and $0.21 more per year than a 5 year vet or $1.05 more total.

and 5 years of service is worth
$0.30 more per year than a new hire

This isn’t going to help retention for PT’ers it’s barely above fast food minimums of $20. This isn’t going to organize Amazon as they pay their PT’ers $21 already…

…and this threatened strike was about them?

so their selling point is what?

yr2 $1.40 raise
yr3 $1.40 raise
yr4 $1.60 raise
yr5 $2.00 raise
1 extra holiday and the ability to drive their person vehicle into the ground during peak? With a promise that they fill about the amount of full time positions that retire normally during a contract?

someone help me I don’t see iy as a win given the company’s profits…

The incentive for the long term part timers is that they are vested in the company, pension benefits, more vacation time than the new hires. Your pick of the vacations. You want to take the summer off to be with the family? You can do that with higher seniority. Preferred job? Higher seniority. Don’t spite the new guys for coming in on a better deal.

When I become a driver, I wasn’t angry that I had to do a 4 year progression as opposed to 2.5 years the previous generation.

OK. Let me make this simple.

The starting rate for a PTer Aug 1, 2022 was $15.50

The starting rate for a PTer Aug 1, 2023 will be $21.00

That's a $4.50 raise immediately when over the past 30 years the rate only went up $7.50.
