BUT THANKS TO OUR GREAT CONTRACT THEY HAVE NO PROTECTION......

And because they have no protection they may have to wait 8 months for a arbitrator to hear their case.
This says it better it is their words.
At this rate, the backlog of arbitration cases will have been resolved by October and new cases will move forward in a timely manner.
Members who are out on the street will not wait eight to nine months for an arbitration date and Local 804 will not waste money on
cancelled arbitration dates.

Member cases get heard by when they were fired by UPS right now if a member got fired today your looking at 6 7 months maybe sooner, yes back log cases may get resolved by October but what about the people UPS fires now ? You cant catch up to were a member gets fired and their case is heard in a month or so? Sorry but I don't understand what your saying? doesn't make sense......

Ok, so you know you know the facts, lol, guess Anthony C told you them, no wonder you have no clue.

If the E Board knew how to read the contract correctly then they would know how to protect the members. Dave O's another one who gets members fired for there incompetence.

The real issue of topic is why are the Drivers on a 72 not able to work as stated in our contract, and why is our E Board oking this. You talk of weak contract, buts it only week when our E board reads it.

OK one more time , if UPS says stay home for 3 days until your hearing and we will pay you and they say yes nothing the union can do BUT if the member or the steward disagree then they have to file a grievance. Even if UPS says no you cant work the steward should file a grievance. Ask your buddy from Foster to ask them why they did not put in a grievance.........should be easy to find out since both stewards are in Tony D pocket.....

This is what I am refering to, their words from Teamsters Local 804.org
The Local 804 UPS Supplement has strong language that requires UPS “to schedule and use five arbitration days” a month—”three for discharge cases, a fourth for suspension cases and a fifth for all other cases.
Members who are out on the street will not wait eight to nine months for an arbitration date and Local 804 will not waste money on
cancelled arbitration dates.

How many members are discharged?
How many members are suspended?
How many other cases?
Are we being kept in the dark again?
How are the stewards going (not sure posted here) in June?

Nothing but excuses..... What about the Business Agent?? Wouldnt he or she have the authority to file a grievance on the behalf of the member if there is some wrong doing? Why would you leave the responsibility to someone who is being paid minimum wage(2 dollars per member) or someone who is receiving six figures?? More money more power more responsibility!!!-Just the facts Or maybe this was already agreed upon with the 2 parties(the business agent & division manager) a clear cut violation of Article 6 Section 1 National Argreement.

You are not going to get a straight answer from these clowns. They can't answer you because they don't know anything.

Perhaps you should call TDU for answers,

Word is Local 804's E Board has TDU on the pay role. Our union money is going to TDU somehow. Tim owes TDU for supporting him with his campaign, Our faith is in TDU hands, what they say goes.

TDU is the only one fooling the members, how many sites does 804 need to pay for: here's a few more they have.

http://teamsterslocal804.com/ and http://teamsterslocal804.org/

So TDU builds our Local's Site and in turn our LOCAL 804 E Boards pays them, Great way to pay them back for Tim's election campaign funds.

The only people who hate TDU more than the company are the old board members. And I am sure both are on here. They both hate TDU because TDU informs members of their rights and responsibilies as union members. Why the moronic conspiracy theories about TDU and our E board ?? TDU are reformers and the new E board are reformers. Remember TDU endorsed and supported Ron Carey in 1991 in his first run for Intl President. Ron also had organizers from TDU work for and with the Intl Teamsters while he was in Washington. What is the problem?? Or is it you are against the reforms the new E board has implemmented?? They took a huge salary cut, that is reform. They stopped the matching 401ks that Howie and the boys gave themselves, that is reform. They actually show up in the middle of the night and work, that is reform. They have added new B/As to be able to hit the night shifts and morning shifts, that is reform. They stopped our health fund from bleeding, that is reform. They dont make back room deals behind the members backs and sell us out anymore, that is reform. They dont back Hoffa and his corrupt administration, that is reform. They speak up for Sandy Pope, a reformer in her own local, that is reform. They not only visit their buildings but they rally the troops and hand out informative leaflets, that is reform. They hold educational seminars, that is reform.

It is these reforms that the old board never did or even thought of doing. That is because the old board was afraid of the members. Afraid that the members would see right through them as the phoney sellouts they truly were as well as how utterly out of ideas they were. For 10 years nothing changed. Same old stale leadership and same old wise guy-wannabees as B/As And now some of the old board sees how this local has changed since they have been gone and cannot deal with that reality. The membership has moved on from those guys Granted, this new board is not perfect but it is starting to make great strides. For years the membership begged for the union (whether under Howie or Tim) to "do something"!! Well, this new board has been on the move , on the offensive lately. They are finally putting UPS on the defensive, making management react to what the union does!! That is a welcome change brothers and sisters!! The late night building raids, the fact that this board does not horse trade members, pulling the safety committees, effectively using their "Fat Cat" as an education tool as well as a rallying tool, Dave O's militant stance in Melville are all reasons to be positive lately about our union.

To the old board members on here, you can ask your questions to your e board members on June 12 at Local 282 at our next General Membership Meeting. Otherwise, stop the disunity. it is unbecoming of a former union official. The Browncafe is a site for information and questions and answers, not attacking each other in public so management can use it against us!! Wise up!!

From what I know our Local is doing 4 discharges a month with the clerks case mixed in. As for the stewards they will be heard in June because the union asked for a expedited arbitration because they are stewards, not 100% sure

NAAH...more like Dave O. & Tim S......they are running out of spots to hire all the hack, fired idiots that listend to them!

So is that what you think Pat , Bill or Angelo that now the stewards that got fired are idiots????? This is why you guys will never get back in , all you guys had to do was just blend in and act like good union members but no , just shows what a bunch of idiots our old board members were , lets re visit , 2 of them come back and run for stewards , yea that was smart ,, Billy B grabs his nuts toward the new board "real classy ,, keep eating" ,, Tony D comes back to Foster and steals an early morning run from a 25 year guy that needed it for his family , but who cares ,, also Tony D helps NO one ,,,,, Going to have so much joy when they lose again.......

Except Vinny, you are going to be the very unhappy one.:wink2:

I agree that we the members of Local 804 were and still are awaiting the second coming of a great leader for our local and on the national level. Lets face the facts Tim S is not him and I have no comment on Sandy P at this time. Tim appears to be a nice guy but the second coming of a legend hes not.
The press that our local has received goes over well when it comes to lockeroom talk or over a glass of wine or a martini(one olive thx)at a dinner party but what has been acomplished since this campaign started. The damage inflicted to our local has been significant. More members are falling victim to poor decisions that our elected leaders are making.

On this thread there are several different groups that have cited their feelings and pledged their allegiances as well but; we can all admit that what Dave O did was not militant. It was just plain stupid!! Whether its poor judgement, lack of discipline(since you said he was being militant)leadership flaws or whatever. Now there are 2 stewards out of work and an undisclosed amount of members whose jobs are in the balance. It has been said that there is a possibility that one if not both stewards are working in the union hall. Question who is paying their salary and where does it say in our conract agreement with UPS or our Teamster by-laws that if you are fired in the line of duty(following instructions by an elected official)that a job is promised to you? Im not a shop steward but a stand up union guy so does that mean I can work in the hall too?

In order for a boxer to be booked for a fight he or she must go through formal physical and mental training. Even with all the training there is only a chance for one person to walk out of the ring as the winner. The membership at large are not prepared to weather the self-inflicted wounds that the executive board is responsible for.

There has been numerous references about present and former board members some positive mostly negative. Just like any other oganization our current board will have to answer for this whether its at the next general meeting or the next general election.
