HARTFORD — A lawyer for a man charged with trying to take delivery of about $6 million worth of cocaine at a UPS facility near Bradley Airport had his bail reduced from $2 million to $500,000 cash Tuesday in Superior Court.
Edwin Olivo, 37, of the Bronx, was charged May 18 with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell after he arrived at the UPS facility with a U-Haul truck he'd rented in the Bronx to pick up the large crate shipped to Bradley from Puerto Rico. Police said it contained 242 pounds of cocaine.
This is refreshing..some facilities actually take drug use and possession seriously.

[h=3]Effects on Daily Life[/h]Research clearly demonstrates that marijuana has the potential to cause problems in daily life or make a person's existing problems worse. In one study, heavy marijuana abusers reported that the drug impaired several important measures of life achievement, including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life, and career status.[SUP]9[/SUP] Several studies associate workers' marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers' compensation claims, and job turnover.

News Flash to the management people at Brush who condone this, it's not acceptable and it puts good law abiding employees at risk.

Possession of drugs on company property. Once in a blue moon, the feds will bring in a sniffer dog to a hub. You got a bag of weed in your pocket and the dog sits down next to you, you are SOL.
This was found on the forum "What are some things that can get you fired at UPS.

I guess they were NOT referring to the infamous Brush Ave building ----LOL
i have seen drivers drop a joint or baggie at a pcm and pick it up and place it right back into their pockets on brush ave, "AND YES THE SUP OR MANAGER JUST WATCHED" his answer if I drug tested this center I would loose more than half of my workforce, management included"

Maybe this should be read aloud to Carl R. at brush, maybe even George Z or maybe even Nick B,
.
.t's in the IBT Constitution, and in the Membership Oath of your Local Bylaws as well. In theory you can be brought up on charges for violating the Oath.

"Article II --- JURISDICTION, MEMBERSHIP AND ELIGIBILITY TO OFFICE
Membership
Section 2(a). Any person shall be eligible to membership in this organization upon compliance with the requirements of this Constitution and the rulings of the General Executive Board. Each person upon becoming a member thereby pledges his honor; to faithfully observe the Constitution and laws of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the Bylaws and laws of his Local Union; to comply with all rules and regulations for the government of the International Union and his Local Union; to faithfully perform all duties assigned to him to the best of his ability and skill; to conduct himself or herself at all times in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon the Union; to take an affirmative part in the business and activities of the Union and accept and discharge his responsibilities during any authorized strike or lockout; that he will not divulge to nonmembers the private business of the Union unless authorized to reveal the same; to never knowingly harm a fellow member; to never discriminate against a fellow worker on account of race, color, religion, sex, age, physical disability, sexual orientation, or national origin; to refrain from any conduct that would interfere with the Union’s performance of its legal or contractual obligations; and at all times to bear true and faithful allegiance to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and his Local Union."

Brush Ave needs a major look at and shake up because it's quite obvious that our in house security knows what goes on and has had the information on that lingering incident when drugs were brought into the building by a local sort person and with the help of a steward snuck out of the building...no clean in , no clean out....so how are they still employed or at the very least suspended, it's on the video, did LP deleat the video ?....what a tangled web ...still watching, Carl R, Eligha S, and Tom C.

Management at Brush does not care unless it comes from higher up. Brush Avenue needs a major attitude adjustment and a major shakeup ASAP, it's almost at the point of no return, especially the inside operations.

Not at Brush Ave....it's a three ring circus there in regards to drugs and the shame about it s that ups security knows about it and tolerates it.

Time to " CLEAN HOUSE " in that building. Bring in managers that have no agendas with anyone. If this still has not been resolved one can only wonder what else is going on ! Seems like the management people in that building find it easier to look the other way, " see no evil, hear no evil".
