And as far as part timers covering vacation routes they will get paid $21.00 instead of the $16.10 they get paid now when they start, then after 39 days are sent back and nothing to show for it. This way all time worked will count toward making book.

The parties agree to create a new full-time combination helper classification. The new full-time combination helper jobs will consist of any combination of part-time preload, hub or local sort work and driver helper. ITS A NEW FULL TIME JOB PUTTING MONEY INTO THE PENSION
1The number of full-time helpers shall not be reduced by the use of full-time combination helpers and where possible additional full-time helper jobs shall be created. There shall be no more than seven percent (7%) full-time combination helpers based on the number of full-time package drivers in the center. Fractions will be rounded down. The percentage may be increased by mutual agreement of the parties.
2.Except for shopping malls not more than one (1) Full-time package helper will work from a vehicle with a driver at any one time. In shopping malls the maximum number of full-time combination helpers shall be two (2) per driver.
3.If a Package Helper is scheduled to meet a driver and the driver is late to the scheduled meet point, the helper's hours will commence from the scheduled time of the meet. The Company may change helper assignments on a daily basis.
4.Helpers as well as any additional passengers will be provided a seat equipped with a seat belt. In the case of planned transportation of a third person in addition to a helper the package driver must be unencumbered with all controls easily accessible.
5.Helpers shall be paid in accordance with Article 41 section 3 of the UPS/IBT national master agreement and shall have a daily eight (8) hour guarantee.
6.The intent of these combination helpers is not to be used as subterfuge to deny package drivers overtime.
7.No seniority package driver will be laid off as a direct result of the use of combination helpers in his or her building.
NY is one of the hardest places to live. Some of the highest property, school taxes in the country. Implementing these helpers is recipe for disaster. This will be the end of creating full time driver jobs as guys retire.

We want to see part timers that want to grow do so. Not get stuck in the tornado that is coming.

Did you not read what offroutes said: these will be FULL TIME jobs. Sort of like carey pushing ups to create all those 22.3 jobs in 1997. They put 2 part time jobs together to make that job. Similar situation here. 4 hrs in the hub, 4 hrs with a driver. There seem to be limits to the number in each center. Looks like mall routes would get one as well as split drivers with 200 stops. Im seeing a preloader work from 5am to 9 am then meet his driver at 1030 right after his air and work wit him til 230. If it is a full time job YES monies go to our H/W as well Pension funds. Listen our local ALREADY has FT helpers in certain buildings such as Foster ave.Didn't Carey organise a strike largely based on "No part time jobs for America"...and this current board is all about Carey...now they want part-timers to do full time work....and UPS agreed which is more scarey cause they dont agree to anything they dont benefit from in the longterm...I still remember "Telematics cant be used for termination"...how did that work out..
