Other locals use vcd drivers but there is also a 7-10 yr wait to go full time. All this is going to do is let ups not hire any more full time drivers. Who is going to contribute to the pension plan when everyone is PT?

Our supplement has better language. If a VCD gets 50 days from covering summer vacations plus peak and he is top seniority of the vcds, all they have to do is work 1 day from Jan 16 until the day before memorial day and they make FT book!!
Also CURRENTLY when a sup or a driver off the street covers a vacation route, NO MONIES GO INTO THE PENSION FUND.

Do you understand what it means to be union! Why are we so quick to under pay a person for the same job that we do!! I wouldn't be against VCD if they where paid the same as a driver. Heck! Off routes!! Yes drivers that are on vacation get a 40 hour credit? So what! Shouldn't some one who does same job get equal pay and benefits!!! Also how many VCD can we have working?? Isn't it as many drivers that will be off during week! Tentative states only a minimum! Not a max and the number is 15% so trouble will be brewing.

Do the current new hires off the street get $32/hr or full benefits?? No they get $16/hr dont they. Stop the scare campaign, its not working.

What stops a center manager from giving off 85% of the center RIGHT NOW?? Nothing. Again, this is NOT part time drivers. Carey railed against ups making all jobs part time (ie, 3 hours or 4 hours). This would be members working 8 hours accumulating enough days to qualify for a FT driving job. I think Carey would want more FT drivers and less part time air dirvers doing our work.

If a VCD makes book they dont automatically become ft. They go to the top of the list and when the company decides to hire more ft drives. So basically they can stay on that list forever. Than what? You want to sell out the new guys for maybe a chance of a pension raise. Tim said so himself that there still needs to be a vote. It doesn't sound like a done deal to me.

That is a lie. Bogus messages saying to vote no are being sent out by the same dopes who wanted to put tony donato or bill buhlert in charge of negotiating this contract. Our E/B is 100% for a YES vote on the supplement. That website is NOT affiliated with our local union. It is run by losers of the last 2 elections. Its main purpose is to confuse the members and create divisions. Dont believe the lies!!

New hires are not union members. Our VCD's are part timers who are union members.... What's your shirt say "united we stand, divided we beg"... You obviously wear it, now do it with PRIDE!!!!
