Let's not forget our lovely union is owed more union dues. We shouldn't have to pay back union dues if our contract isn't ratified by August 1st it would actually give them incentives to get it done. If we are working under old contract they shouldn't get the old rate and retro check for union

I'm all for paying dues I pay almost 22 a week. And I donate to drive every week for 15 years but if they don't get a contract by August 1st they should give up something. The company or union have no reason to settle. Working on old contract is new norm. Especially if it passes. Even though it won't I pray. Vote no early and often

My husband and his union, local 174 is voting YES for the contract. Ive heard a ton of “no” votes but no reasons to back it up.... want to know what everyone thinks, and if you’re voting NO, can you please give reasons why?
Thanks!

PS- If there’s already a “Contract” thread, sorry! I tried looking for one, but didn’t see it.

There is about 100 contract threads.

NO on 70 hour work weeks.

NO on the line as long as work is available.

There's 2 reasons.

70 hr work weeks only apply to the 22.4 jobs... which allows the pkg car driver to get off in a timely manor to see those kid sporting events or be home for daily dinners at a normal time. Not 10 pm eat sleep and repeat. and its a 40hr guarantee as long as work is available... again the 22.4 job... as work is available had to be put in there in case Amazon were to pull out and we lose 30% of our volume. We as employees dont have that 40 hr guarantee as it is. your already an employee of ups. Dont apply for a 22.4 job and it wont ever effect you.

NO on unlimited feeder subcontracting.

Lol ummm where exactly does it say that because with this contract its opening up 2000 new spots in feeder for sleeper teams.... thats not subcontracting. Thats ups union feeder drivers making more money and moving up in the company to get rid of the rails... the coyotes are coming to an end with this contract too. So id really like to know where it states that so i can bring it up to his local.

Incorrect. 70 hour work weeks apply to ALL full time drivers.

As long as work is available completely negates the 40 hour guarantee.

if that line were to protect the company, then why is it only written in the RPCD 40 hour guarantee and not in the 22.4 40 hour guarantee.

Sounds like its purposely written for Monday layoffs when all the resi gets delivered over the weekend by a 22.4.

Unless its plainly written. UPS is going to use it how they see fit. i.e. Monday layoffs to start. That line is too vague and too open for ups interpretation of it. It needs to be crossed out.

Ok the pkg car drivers now have language that protects us from the 70hour work week. Everyone is now on the 9.5 hr list that your local should be in charge of. Once a grievance is filed for a driver working over 9.5 hrs... work is then available. And the 22.4 driver is guaranteed his 40hrs. Now the regular pkg drivers will be back to a mon thru fri shift and yes the 22.4 will be working weekends. The union had to put in that as long as work is available because they kept shooting down the proposal asking for a 40hr guarantee. And the company came back and said if amazon pulls then im not paying 30% of our work force for nothing. Thats how the "as long as work is available" came into play. This was all explained by our local 174 representative who had a hand in writing the 22.4 job into the contract.

Where are you getting this misinformation that Amazon is 30% of UPS volume? If you are going to troll at least have the decency to be factual.

I got my ballet and voted no on both the master and the supplemental.
I voted this way because I just don't trust UPS. They are pushing real hard for a yes vote. Hmmm... UPS is a huge wealthy company and try to sell us on the premise that they are small and struggling and we a lucky for everything we get. I'm not buying it. They need us more than we need them.

Two things about this statement.
One , so you are OK :censored2:ing over those who come behind us, and two are you an employee, or the spouse of an employee. Make your mind up

Jesus Christ! Yes I’m the WIFE of a feeder driver- sorry for the typo- get off it. Please answer this for me- WHY exaxtly are you so concerned about everyone that comes behind you? How in the hell can you all worry about everyone else BEHIND you? You all have had to “do your time”, one way or another. It’s not like 22.4 drivers are going to be effed over forever- they just have to do their time. PLUS when they accept the job- aren’t they going in fully aware of what the job entails?!

Because a union is only as strong as its weakest link. It's the responsibility of those who come before to leave conditions better ,not worse for those who come after them. Stop misrepresenting who you are and I'll get off of it.
The thing that pissed me off about the yes votes is all you all have are a bunch of scare tactics. "They will offer less money if we don't accept it" "UPS will go out of business if we don't vote yes" "We will be on strike if we don't vote yes on this proposal "
You already proved with your statement that you are a selfish :censored2: because all you care about is what's best for you and not worried about those who follow, but you fear mongering over the contract show you to be a giant pusillanimous too
