The newbies are the worst
And a few veterans

They're also the same people that never have any money
Nor do they put anything into the 401K

Newbies I can almost give a pass to for a little bit. On car says you want to work just 6 hours today. They don’t know any better and usually don’t know to ask another driver about it.

Any vet should know better.

They can pay double time and they would have lots of volunteers

Lol, my thing is they already do have their volunteers! They've had interest lists up in my center for at least a week now. One sheet for M-friend willing to work Sat, and one sheet for T-Sat willing to work Monday. 2 columns on each. Both are absolutely filled, top to bottom and folks trying to squeeze their name in after the lines ran out.

Then today I came in to find another piece of paper next to the completely filled-out interest lists saying that, starting the week ending on 11/25, all drivers are required to report Mon-Sat.
I've gone out the past 4 days with ~150 stops on a route that typically goes out with two trucks, over 200 stops and roughly 400 pieces.

It's all just super unnecessary, man, but if they want to breed contempt and sow dissension among the ranks then they're doing a bang-up job. Problem is, the union's getting lumped in with UPS now because this is one of the hills that most of us were prepared to die on when we voted over the summer.

but again, it is what it is. I'll work what I'm told to work and grieve what I think needs grieving.

That doesn't seem like a burden that should fall on the shoulders of the workforce, especially after voting in good faith on a contract providing language that prohibits forced 6th punches that the company itself proposed.

Again. Let’s let millions of packages sit. Let’s lose more customers. Let’s lose more Teamster jobs.

People want to work I have no problem with that especially if you're the bottom of the totem pole where things may get slow for you early in the year, the extra money will come in
But you should not have to be working the 6th day because you don't have to

I have NOT been lurking

Eat. Sleep. Work. Jork.
(776) sign up sheets for next Saturday through 12-23…. I got a feeling though that everything will depend on the volume… super light now but a few big sales and a few big snowstorms could change everything… Saturday 12-23 could get interesting nationwide depending on weather situation ((remember 2013)
I had -9 in the :censored2:in trailer

I agree wholeheartedly but I want to emphasize that while I'm willing to report as instructed, I 100% do not want to on my days off.

You know what could've prevented even the possibility of you using that argument?

The company taking this new contractual language seriously from the jump.

You're literally losing more ground with every post you talk about how it's our fault (or more specifically, our RESPONSIBILTY) UPS is dropping the ball while Teamster leaders sit back and say "It's all good, we'll pick up the slack and won't enforce the new contract until we have our members vote on the next one."

[EDIT: And I can't help but wonder, had UPS taken this seriously and actually hired enough people to only have their workers report for 5-day workweeks throughout peak, wouldn't that in fact have CREATED more Teamster jobs? But no, no sir, they want to keep their staffing sheet as short as possible in order to conform to Carol the Great's mantra of "Better, not bigger."

The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to think of you as a joke and a shill.]

It just BS when they twist the contract and maybe they'll fix it for next year

We have very clear language on this subject

Just sit home on the sixth punch if you don’t want to work.

If you want to work then work.

Why is this so difficult?

The rest of us will be sitting here waiting for your response. There is no wrong answer.

Couldn’t agree more. I have nothing against people volunteering. You want to, go for it. Company should not get away with forcing one person in for the life of this contract.

Some people struggle with the thought of being called into the office every morning because your on-road has a hard-on for you since he had to run your route that one Saturday when you decided to man up and not report.

I'm one of those people, but I also have this strange attribute where, if you force me into stressful and anxious thoughts one too many times, I'm eventually numb to your bull:censored2: and if you're lucky enough to even get a response out of me the only word you're going to hear is "No."

It's almost like a reflex. I can think of two managers in my building that will never get a "Yes" or even a headnod from me ever again for exactly this reason.

Yep. But they didn’t. And now we’re here.

Never said it’s our fault. It’s the Company’s fault. But now we’re here.

Sure.

And what is the remedy for the STOLEN TIME of the members, and dont say they are paid time and a half. It is a clear violation. Your position on this matter is one of DISHONOR.

It’s dishonorable that you want to cost thousands of Teamsters their jobs because you’re unwilling to work a few more Saturdays to get through peak and then let SOB work out the 6th punch.

Just ignore the miserable sups. You have a better job than them.
Wait out the ones not following protocol. They will be replaced soon enough.

Remember to keep your integrity and protect the truck. We have a code of conduct for everyone. Take a look at article 37 in the contract. Don’t be afraid to quote it. Remember you didn’t write the rules but you need to follow them.

It's disingenuous of you to claim that expecting the company to uphold their end of the contract they proposed will lose any Teamster jobs when the reality of the language is that, were it followed immediately upon ratification it would've had the opposite effect of CREATING more Teamster jobs.
