Something is going to giveThe one day strike. Was a different time then.

You should be retired. Kind of odd...Ee walked out in 94 over the over 70 language
But honestly, I don't think the international wants to pay strike pay for us to walk out over this issue
I have neither enough time, nor am I old enough. You should be retired. Kind of odd...
I meant other guy.I have neither enough time, nor am I old enough.
Eh I never quite understood the fascination with worrying about when other people retire. Everyone situation is different. The only thing I hope is that everyone leaves healthy, and on their own terms. That timeframe is different for everyone for lots of reasons.I meant other guy.
They didn’t say yes to continuing to abuse the contract day after day year after year.Strike over something that has been agreed to by both sides? Contract doesn't say the company can't send drivers out heavy.
Teamsters said yes to the contract. That was the time to do something.
I guess it's in how you define abuse. Sucks to be you for signing off on a contract with language that allows what some perceive as abuse. They didn’t say yes to continuing to abuse the contract day after day year after year.
Doesn’t really work that way anymore. We certainly can’t wildcat. The union could be sued out of existence. And currently the labor board is very little help.I guess it's in how you define abuse. Sucks to be you for signing off on a contract with language that allows what some perceive as abuse.
Is the company violating the contract? That the union can do something about.
I already have guys here making quadruple time the rest of the year after they go over 9.5. Company didn’t blink.the best bet is going to be to change the 9.5 language next contract to make it too costly for the company to simply ignore. Could be as simple as "if the driver cannot finish the route in under 9.5, then the route will be brought back with no retribution for doing so",,,, or "all hours worked for the entire week will be automatically paid at triple time rate after the third occurrence"
As it is right now the IBT is satisfied with the language that was passed so the best to do is follow that language to the "t"
only for the hours over 9.5 correct? I mean triple or, heck, even quadruple time for "all" hours worked that week (50, 60, etc). Without doing the math I am guessing that may be enough to convince them.I already have guys here making quadruple time the rest of the year after they go over 9.5. Company didn’t blink.
Yes, only for the hours worked over 9.5. Of course you would have to get the company to agree to what you’re suggesting and I don’t see that happening.only for the hours over 9.5 correct? True..... but I don't see another way around the forced overtime unless it's done. Then again, if you did get it you know they would want it made up in some other form of concession.Yes, only for the hours worked over 9.5. We hear tough 9-5 talk all the time until the contract rolls out for a vote. Then, not so much. Membership votes it in with the same-same old.Doesn’t really work that way anymore. I do agree with you, although getting almost $180 an hour to work the overtime is a pretty big stick. And some tough talk in my opinion. If you gotta work it, they might as well pay you.We hear tough 9-5 talk all the time until the contract rolls out for a vote. Then, not so much. Membership votes it in with the same-same old.
The nature of the driving job at UPS involves overtime, always has, always will.
Kinda hard to qualify when the old fossil won't leave and by the time he does (or dies) you become the new old fossilEh I never quite understood the fascination with worrying about when other people retire. You mean that speedboat and full size truck isn’t an investment?Best advice I can give is Live off the 40hrs and invest all the overtime. Don’t use the extra money to get more toys and/or debt.
Money can make you a slave or set you free. Use your money so it makes you more money don’t use it to go in debt or buy things that are worthless in a few years. You will thank me when you retire.
If it's a gasser. A Cummins holds valueYou mean that speedboat and full size truck isn’t an investment?
