More than once I had a customers dog wander into the cargo area when leaving the bulkhead door open. Was always a pain in the ass to deliver their pet back to them.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
I think we would both say that things like osha have their place. I just don't think a.c. in package cars is something I would want osha to get into

Again everything costs. Paid vacations cost.

Money spent on a.c. is money that can't go into our paycheck

Not sure if u are a big safety risk with an open bulkhead door. I don't especially since there's wall behind the seat
What I was saying was the heat behind the bulk head door is an issue for you. So your solution is leaving your bulk head door open.
So when your ORS comes to you and says "why did you have 35 bulk head door events" you say "It's 169 degrees behind that door."

In my opinion venting the cargo space would really help; I can speak from experience that even in 114 degree weather, the stops are never reduced and the well being of the driver is not taken into account. PCM's always ended with "stay hydrated"...thanks brain trust.

Same thing 30 years ago, drink plenty of fluids. Ozone alerts, who cares.

Yeah, I'm a road hog
Maybe an open mesh or diamond plate pattern with openings for air movement while retaining the strngth of the door is an option.

It won't work. It won't cool down that fast. Heat exchange takes time. I've had a lawn business in SW Florida. There is no point trying to cool it down between stops. Not only that; if you're really worried about safety. AC wouldn't be the #1 choice. Better side protection, airbags, and so on. More drivers die in accidents by far than heat related. It just makes sensational headlines.

This whole bulkhead door topic is a good example of what happens when your
supervisors no longer come from the ranks. These 90 day wonders have no clue
what it is like to be in a hot package car all day.

money spent on ac is money that cant go to shareholders. they are not spending the money on you, theyre spending it on themselves.

You are at work 40 hours a week. do you want to suffer lol?

I don't see why they make such a big deal about keeping the bulkhead door closed like all the time. An open bulkhead door would reduce heat build up and also be good for unloaders
A driver had the bulkhead door open and their handcart flew up into the cab smashing the driver in the face. That was what I was told many years ago.
