Brown Cafe Cruise!!!

I would think Ft.L would be much cheaper than Miami.

Tex, how are you? You haven't been keeping me in line lately.:happy2:
I was thinking that it probaby would be also, however cruises sail out of there too so it may be really cloes to the same price. all we can do is some research to find out for sure.

Thanks for asking UpState, I'm getting along fairly well as long as I don't push it too far. I'm beginning to think that my career is over, but if the comp insurance would co-operate with the doctors it might make a positive difference. Frekin cheapskates.

I'll try to do better, but from what I have read, you don't need to be kept in line all that much.

Now, for another thought........................... who is coming in early and would anyone be interested in trying to all book in the same motel/hotel for whatever nights everyone is going to be there? We are flying in Wed or Thurs (have not made a definate decision)
My wife and I will come down Saturday morning, with a mid afternoon arrival in Lauderdale. We would be up to all go out and eat Saturday night.
I was going to confer with Amy when I made my final payment on the cruise for a good motel.
Good idea on both counts. I've given Amy a heads up on the hotel search. I told her it's time to become a BC member and post some updates and stuff.

This from Amy.

Hi Steve, I’ve been looking into a few hotels…
I have rates for clients wanting to stay a nice, clean hotel/on the beach at a good rate in Fort Lauderdale
I also have rates for clients that want to stay in Miami by the airport / downtown by Bayside/Port or
Miami’s South Beach. Let the group know they can call or email and I will be happy to share the information.

Good news! Just got off the phone with Amy and she said the price of the group rate on the Brown Cafe cruise has dropped. The Balcony rate has dropped $50 and those that have submitted a downpayment will be credited. I only mention Balcony, because it seems like that is what most of us have chosen.

She will be emailing everyone that has made a deposit for the cruise.

There is another consideration concerning booking a hotel before a cruise. For those that are going to drive a personal car to Miami Beach, you have to have a place to park it all week. At Port Canaveral, Carnival charges over a hundred dollars to park in their lot. We stayed at a motel a mile from the ship that advertised "cruise specials". We got a room, breakfast buffet, parking, and a shuttle ride over to the dock for $129.

Thats good news on the price. I just lost my cash cow run, and now have to work just to get 8 hours. I was just looking over my paperwork for the cruise, and I have discovered it leaves from Miami. I was thinking it was Ft. Lauderdale. Now it is really important to find a good motel for the night.

OI, we decided to stay in Ft. L based on our friends recomendation. He has been to Miami and Ft. L and says that is it much safer to stay in Ft. L. I think I remember Stephen saying that it is not that far from Ft. L to the docks in Miami. Stephen?

Maybe some of us can book hotel rooms as a group as well and get a better rate. I'll ask Amy.
That would be fine with us Stephen. I have not had the chance to get back to Amy just yet and I am still waiting for Apr to become available to book airline tickets. If there are going to be quite a few of us staying in Ft. L maybe we could get a van to the docks and split the cost between everyone.

I just received my notice that it's time to make the final payment. I am gonna wait until after T day, and then set the hotel room/ make the final payment at the same time.

they move the final payment date up a week of so, it was origianlly 02/02/10. Not really that much different. It would be cool if they lowered the price again. but I'm not counting on it.

Here is link to a site for a TRANSPORTATION company I read about on cruise critic, several people recommended them. I haven't really taken the time to research it any further.

I believe your final payment is due at the end of Jan 2010, no need to pay it sooner unless you want to but double check with Amy just to be sure! :wink2:
