UPS should of never helped Amazon with deliveries when Amazon was growing their shipping network. You never help your competition grow. FedEx told Amazon to pound sand but UPS didn't get "the big picture" and only looked at all the extra packages it would receive in the short term. UPS is now paying the price.
Just like thr Post office told UPS to go pound sand with the Surepost

Market overreaction. in the long run this will be a good thing. Amazon sucks and so do their packages. They can go pound sand, especially if we’re not making much money on them.

Amazon will never handle all their own volume, they don't leave their local building here till after 11:00 am we all know how well that goes. They'll come back begging for help to keep up with their one and two day delivery guarantee then see how much UPS charges them.

You’re probably right and they’ve done this before.

Crazy Carol thinks cutting # of employees will bump earnings and share price up just enough for her to sell off and retire for good. Share price is down over $100 from highs in 2021/2022 Remember she’s closing 400 buildings. She’s a typical retail CEO.
You can’t look at the highs, they were Covid related. She’s done a terrible job but the highs arent based in reality. UPS stock has never been a moneymaker other than very early on when the company went public. Wages drag it down.

Why not just charge them accordingly?

I like the move, the sure post volume might off set the amazon volume. And if your number one customer isn’t your most profitable then it only makes sense to move in another direction.

Why not not just tell Amazon these are the rates, no negotiation? Where would Amazon go, what options do they have? And if they go , they go 🤷
Maybe that's exactly what happened. Maybe they think they can handle all their volume I'm not surprised if they have ex ups management steering them in the wrong direction. I mean how many ups managers have been fired? Where do they look for a job? One or two places right?
