Now that was kinda mean................. (but right on).................and if I got deep sixed I would be gone..............But it is enjoyable banter to see how Our Canadian brothers look at us.

there is a certain smug arrogance displayed by our canadian poster that needs to be checked every now and then.

Good ole Charlie Rangel managed a way to wrangle a tax bill in along with healthcare. Don't they know that the more they 'tack on' the more objections they face ??

what's the matter with this society. Don't you know that something as basic as health care should be offered and available to everyone. Anti-healthcare form activist are people who truly don't give a damn about anyone other than themselves and their own pockets. It behooves our society to have healthy people who can work and contribute, not sick or disabled people who can't. You see the health care system currently in place. Ask yourself: Is this working? If you have half a brain, No!

McCain, Obama Differ Dramatically on Health Care

but, it does reflect what I think too.
A selfish bunch.

Klein,,, you are sooooooo wrong... it's not that most of the people are ANTI healthcare. It is that we dont want the GOVERNMENT in charge of it. The arguement always seems to be "healthcare is broke; and ONLY the government can fix it". Again,,, you simply have no concept of freedom. Also, you actually believe that we will be able to maintain our own healthcare if we wish. Just wont happen as time goes on

Then go get your insurance companies to fix it, or which ever organisation you think is best.
And if it was up to you, darn stupid goverment wouldn't spend a dime on healthcare.
Trying to figure out a country, that doesn't have a hospital or healthcare funded by a government, but even the poorist ones do.
Only way, buy yourself an unpopulated island, and live there.

While we're at it people need cars to get around so by god lets get government to buy the 40 million people without some cars too.

Food gotta have food. Should not be peanut butter so lets buy everyone steaks.

TV and computers. Need them to stay informed so lets get government to buy them a computer and a TV.

And if you don't buy them all a car and steak and a tv and a computer then you don't have a brain and you don't care about your fellow man.:happy-very:

No, I agree, lets do it your way, anyone that gets laid off, or fired, works as a waitress, hotel cleaner, cab driver, or students in college .......
Just shoot them.
No healthcare costs, just a bullet.

Got this via email, has a ring of truth to it, in my opinion.

Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head, John Conyers, says he doesn't understand it. It'll be passed by Congress that has not read it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a Treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese, and financed by a country that's nearly broke. What could possibly go wrong?"

No I like your idea better
If I get fired for drinking on the job then the government pays all my bills.
If I go to work I have to pay higher taxes for all the people living off the government. So I think I'll follow your lead and stay home. Maybe lecture people on how much smarter canadians and socialist are for creating a culture that encourages me to stay home and sit on my arse.

Actually, if i would have had a private unemployment plan, or was able to put those unemployment taxes towards my own bank account , I would be well better off.
They don't pay my bills. They pay me 60% less then I was earning.

But, I worked hard and long enough that I can get by on that.

I think you just proved my. Why go look for a job when you're getting by on that?

You don't get it do you? Americrans respect people who go out and work for their money not ones who get by on government handouts.

Then look in your own backyard. Go to church today (Sunday), and 1 out of 8 aren't working in the US (1 out of 10 unemployed insurance).
Tell them, you don't respect them.

I sent out applications, and yesterday got is trouble here on BC, because I was thinking helping out my old company, I worked for, because they are in Laborstrike, and need temp workers urgently.

And, I don't know how it is in the states, but every paycheck we get here, a certain amount of taxes goes towards unemployment INSURANCE.

It's an INSURANCE , that we pay for. Which made billions of dollars in profit here (too much collected, not enough handed out). Our government has those funds in a seperate account.

Anyways, it's not, that I'm not looking.
I should hear back from the postoffice this week. Since the bid of the job opening ends today.

You do not really understand what the problem is. I found this video and it may help explain how we got to where we are in our country.

Great vid. AV

Thanks for posting.

I'd like to see more discussion on the market interventions of the 1930's and 1940's that over time caused market distortions and helped to get us where we are now. Just as gov't was intervening in the domestic economic market to achieve an outcome or means to an end, it found that it also had to do so globally as especially becaue of Bretton Woods and then in 1971' when Nixon ended Bretton Woods and OPEC made the dollar in effect the global reserve currency backed by oil itself. Oil replaced gold as the backing commodity of the dollar. Intervention was thus demanded on the global stage in order to maintain economic stability so the US government because an agency of intervention on both the domestic and international front in order to achieve a specific economic outcome. Healthcare is a part of that bigger picture IMO.

I also like the idea of non profit co-ops which are not anti free market if voluntary. All things should be voluntary. And this idea also promotes localism and decentralized control. You can choose to take all so-called profits and roll it back into the organization for the benefit of it's members, nothing in the rules of free market economics sez you have to take profits and pay to shareholders. You can even make an arguement that the Wall Street system we have today is not a true free market in that any of us can't open up a stock trading exchange and start doing business. What would the various gov't agencies who oversee such things have to say? And are they in fact not really there to protect investors and the public as much as they are there to protect a private monopoly and cartel?

If non-profit by voluntary choice is not the free market, then one might need to explain how so many non-profit charities will provide a fail safe system where extracting gov't from that picture and purpose are advocated?

Strike the Root!
