Gov healthcare

As soon as everyone is willing to pay about tripple the costs of it (around $3000 per month), for lifetime. On the plus side, in 20 - 30 years the government will become debtfree and could lower taxes for the next generation to come.

The problem most of you have, is that you don't trust government at all.
In the good days, when government had money, yes, things were good !
If the government does make money, it's the peoples money, meaning it's still your money. Which you'll receive back in 1 form or another.
However, if you pay a private insurance company, that money is gone. No longer yours. It's gone for good !
If for some reason, nobody gets seriously ill, and insurance profits.... well, they keep it.
A nice good profit year for them.

I would still like to see a public option for car and home insurance here. As 1 of our provincial ministers once threatened the private sector, to bring rates down, or else we will compete with you.

While you guys discuss your healthcare issues, here in the background is a big call out for a National Daycare Program.
Which will probably be passed in the next decade or so.
Just more tax money us singles need to pay and never benefit from. Unless they take away all thier child tax credits, family allowances... to pay for it.

you realize you inadvertantly took the conservative position here?

your post highlights why we don't want the government involved in health care nor creating any additional beaurocracies.

As a rule, I don't pass along these "add your name" lists that appear in email, but this one is important.

It has been circulating for months and has been sent to over 300 million people. We don't want to lose any names on the list.

Please keep it going.

To show your support for President Obama's health care reform, please go to the end of the list and add your name.

Oh, I know. We still have to spend half the money you spend on healthcare. :(

as a taxpayer I don't look at the government as santa claus and I would not want my tax dollars paying for this.

hey klein wouldnt it be better if your government provided the life saving surgeries you citizens are crossing the border for instead of this stuff?

You can look at it, in different ways , too.
Parents like that can then either adopt a child from Africa, or we can up the immigration so we have population growth.
I`m ok with this 3rd option.

Guess, you didn`t read this article yet. Get your own act together first, before you mention anything about life saving !

I'm looking at why are you guys looking to be a leader in government sponsered invitro fertilization when you have citizens crossing the border for life saving surgery.

shouldn't canada look to be number one in life saving surgeries and then work on the invitro benifits?

We`re number 4 in preventable deaths from not accuring. Your last from the G7 and industrial nations. Spot 15 ! With a trend of getting worse.
Look in your own back yard. I`m happy with 4th spot !

This kids will eventually grow up and pay taxes, and are Canadian citizens...they will pay for my pension, and healthcare.
No, I see it as a good investment.
A few thousand dollars .... that child will have that paid back in 3 months work !

Or we can get immigrants here, teach them english first, pay for thier housing and food at first (welfare), and hope to hell they aren`t terrorist, or hard line Islamic... Quebec is doing the right thing.
You may disagree. Thats your opinion.

Where do rank in the important poll the one that shows the number of canadians leaving their country to get life saving surgery?

There is no such poll, or even significient numbers to even add up.
On the other hand 7 millions US citizens leave the US for medical treatment.

Google all you want.... find me anywhere a website, where Canadians are leaving for medical surgery in the thousands... gee, probably won't even find numbers in the hundreds.
Maybe, you'll find a fake number on the fox site, or Rush L.'s ?
Must be where you are getting this crazy nonsense from.

There's no time to flee for medical surgery, they already die waiting their turn!!

That would now be listed under preventable deaths, now, wouldn't it ?
Which we all know now, the US ranks bottom from most industrialized countries ! Canada on 4th spot. Hopefully, you guys get that fact into your heads !

And as far as that Premier heading to Maimi for surgery.. that caused a major stink here.
Here is 1 of those articles... thats actually a friendly one :
But, tells it best and honestly :

Danny Williams and the separatism of the rich

Brian Topp
There is a depressing amount of material out there in the open-mouth-osphere, written by American know-nothing-party activists, crowing about Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams's decision to seek heart surgery in the United States. Proof, they are basically saying, that the Canadian health-care system cannot deliver basic services. And then the counter-offensive, which amounts to: "that's not true."

Well, after watching news last night, and the Todays Show this morning.. I have more facts to defend my opinions :

Invitro Fertilization actually saves healthcare costs !
watch news vid here : http://www.globalnational.com/video/index.html?releasePID=6Zo6PV80rybnllK0lezCJeJodf_CmMuv

Also, watched the American morning show, called "Today's Show", this morning.
Don't have a video of that, but it was almost heart-breaking to watch these married people going thru a divorce only because of healthcare costs.
I do however have this article, that they also showed on the show :

Until Medical Bills Do Us Part

Critics fret that health care reform would undermine American family values, not least by convening somber death panels to wheel away Grandma as if she were Old Yeller.
But peel away the emotions and fearmongering, and in fact it is the existing system that unnecessarily takes lives and breaks apart families.

I would like to know when " Health care ' became a right.
this whole subject is weird. I came from a very large family (13 ), we had no insurance, bills were paid when money was available along with school & other bills, my father worked two jobs ( one private / one for the government [part time ] )yet no one died from the lack of care.
But that was in another era , when people cared.
.

Like you said,"but that was in another era".....when black people had to sit in the rear of the bus, women couldn't vote, father knew best, and we left it to Beaver....back in an era when you could pay a doctor cash for an office visit. Wake up...we live in a new era, where healthcare cost, Rx and premiums have skyrocketed so disproportional to our wages.

I would also like to know how providing Iraq'ee citizens healthcare became a right before US citizens. Why ? Because we blew up their country ? As the richest country in the world, it's a disgrace not to be able to provide access to healthcare to all our citizens, yet even some third world countries do. So yes, healthcare should be a right for all, the good, the bad, the ugly. the needy, and yes, even right wingers (especially free mental evaluations)....just like the right to bear arms.....Now, wouldn't that be very right wing christian like ? That's what Jesus would want, right ?

Upstate,I don't really know a lot about how it works other than what I've experienced because its always been there. As far as wait times go,when I broke my finger 5 months ago,I waited about 3 hours for the xray, and had a doctor reset it an hour later.I saw several people with more serious problems go in that arrived after I did.I've had 2 colonoscopies that I waited about 3-4 months for.I have heard a few horror stories about some specific things that are not covered, but overall,it seems to work well.I'm not surprised that some well paid folks in sports pay for immediate care south of the border. That article is quite informative, but I found the comments section that follow were even more so.

I know how it works....we've been living in a GREEN society for years now. And I not talking clean energy....just follow the MONEY.

Not to mention I've read the horror stories of the time it takes just to get in a typical doctor's office for a checkup or other minor issue. Having to wait weeks to see a doctor, or even years for one to be assigned to you is ridiculous in my opinion. This is not even taking into consideration the time to see a specialist if a real problem arises. If I need to see a doctor I can leave my home and be speaking with my doctor in about an hour, including driving time, with no appointment made prior.

Glad to hear Gramps is ok, but hearing the majority of Canadians on sateilite radio, which BTW has a hugh Canadain fan base as well, their overall acceptance to their Healthcare coverage is positive, and the sick and injured are treated in priority order...

As far as seeing a Doc in an hour....where do you live Mayberry? Or are you referring to some random Walk-In Health Center. Takes me about a 3-5 days on a slow week to schedule an appt to see my GP Doc. That's because he's popular, he's good, and I don't live in the sticks....

http://www.defendyourhealthcare.us/osbrokenpromises.html

This site explains O great health plan in detail along with the pages items can be found.

This is very scary.

BHO is lying to the American Public . You will not be able to keep your present Dr. . Any changes to your existing policy ( a co-pay change, a change in services, added coverage ) will automatically force you onto the gov't plan. If you can not prove to the IRS that you have coverage, they will rat you out. There are fines for you to pay, $1,000's basically what ever some pencil pusher decides.
No more private health plans.
Children with diabilities will recieve no care.
Elderly will be denied life extension surgeries.
Under BHO's idea of health only the young will reside in the USA.

Dude, you seriously need to shy away from all those right wing fear mongering web sites, or you may lapse into shock and become a burden to the healthcare system....

Silly me but I thought that your health insurance might want to save the lives it has before it works on creating new ones.

Your polls are clearly skewed since canadians would not be leaving canada to go to america for life saving surgery if your polls were any good.

I guess my next question would be is Canada promoting invitro to help replace all the canadians leaving canada?

Not to long ago, I posted how people in Vancouver that needed Heart Surgery, and the new Heart Clinic wasn't opened yet... had a chance to take the offer to go to Seattle and get it done (for free, paid by the province)... The deal was settled between British Columbia & the Seattle Heart Clinic... Yet, no one showed up. They all said, they rather wait, then to go (only 50miles), to the US for healthcare.

Where is your point Tie ?
Lifesaving surgery ? Yup, set up a poll at the border. I would like to see that one myself.
I'm sure they are soo healthy to drive up to 10 hrs, (like I would have to, just to get to the US border),
What specialty hospitals do you have in Montana, that I can't get here ?

Lifesaving Surgery, eh ? Maybe our EMS helicopters should fly directly to the US instead ?
That's life saving surgery !
Again, you show how little knowledge you have, and watching your fox news, won't allow you to give you more reality and common sense.

Here is a touch of reality :

A 2004 study by the Institute of Medicine, a branch of the National Academy of Sciences, found that lack of health insurance causes 18,000 unnecessary deaths a year. That’s one person slipping through the cracks and dying every half an hour.
In short, it’s a good bet that our existing dysfunctional health system knocks off far more people than an army of “death panels” could — even if they existed, worked 24/7 and got around in a fleet of black helicopters.
So, for those of you inclined to believe the worst about President Obama, think it through. Suppose he is indeed a secret, foreign-born Muslim agent who is scheming to undermine American family values while killing off as many grandmothers as possible.
If all that were true, why on earth would he be trying so hard to reform our health care system? We already know how to prod families into divorce and take a life unnecessarily every 30 minutes — all we need to do is reject reform and stick with exactly what we have.
