Lobbyists: White House sends meetings off-site to hide them

Caught between their boss’s anti-lobbyist rhetoric and the reality of governing, President Barack Obama’s aides often steer meetings with lobbyists to a complex just off the White House grounds – and several of the lobbyists involved say they believe the choice of venue is no accident.
It allows the Obama administration to keep these lobbyist meetings shielded from public view — and out of Secret Service logs collected on visitors to the White House and later released to the public.

And administration officials recently asked some lobbyists and others who met with them to sign confidentiality agreements barring them from disclosing what was discussed at meetings with administration officials

Our leadership sure seems out of touch with what's going on in the world...Can anyone say timing? This kind of approach resembles incompetence in my opinion. Oh, and you can't just stop defending laws, it's unconstitutional and another power grab. Oh, one more thing I'm not anti gay for the attackers here and have gay friends that is certainly not the point.

Obama declares national state of emergency over Libya

President Obama issued an executive order Friday evening that imposes immediate sanctions on Libyan ruler Muammar al Qaddafi, his sons and his accomplices in the slaughter of civilians. In a letter accompanying the order, Obama declared a national emergency over the situation.
"I have determined that the actions of Colonel Muammar Qaddafi, his government, and close associates, including extreme measures against the people of Libya, constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. The order declares a national emergency to deal with this threat," Obama wrote in the letter to House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH).

National State of Emer. ??? What does that mean? Did he put a hit on Moamar?? All talk, talk, talk,. Yet that Libyan monster can kill his citizens all the while other nations decide what color the emergency is and how much $$$$ we won't send him this month. When will anybody get serious about this crap??? Let's see now Moamar....you're an orange and we will reduce your monthly stipend by 1 million $$$$. God, I miss the mafia!! At least the mafia, when faced with a 'situation', would decide and react quickly to put everything back in order.

Re: Obamanomics

The President ordered the cabinet to cut a whopping $100 million from the $3.5 trillion federal budget!

I'm so impressed by this sacrifice that I have decided to do the same thing with my personal budget. I spend about $2,000 a month on groceries, household expenses, medicine, utilities, etc, but it's time to get out the budget cutting ax, go line by line through my expenses, and cut back!

I'm going to cut my spending at exactly the same ratio -1/35,000 of my total budget. After doing the math, it looks like instead of spending $2,000 a month; I'm going to have to cut that number by six cents !

Yes, I'm going to have to get by with $1999.94, but that's what sacrifice is all about. I'll just have to do without some things, that are, frankly, luxuries.

Did the Pres actually think no one would do the math?

So I guess we'll have to assemble the masses and declare you greedy and heartless too!
:wink2:

It is amazing just how little it is when put to scale. I watched Sen. Tom Coburn OK on C-Span yesterday and he said that even in the defense budget is over $50 bil in saving just by using better accounting practices. Current accounting in DOD according to Coburn fails vastly and should be updated and that alone would save and not effect one system or one soldier. I'm no fan of Rumsfeld but he was right in that a smaller, more nimble and technological miltary was the way of the future that would also be vastly cheaper. Granted we didn't see this as it was all hawgs to the trough but his concepts in cost was the way of the future if you accepted his overall POV of the military going forward.

By Lou Pritchett, Procter & Gamble

A LETTER FROM A PROCTER AND GAMBLE EXECUTIVE TO THE PRESIDENT* THE LAST SENTENCE IS THE MOST CHILLING

Lou Pritchett is one of corporate America 's true living legends- an
Acclaimed author, dynamic teacher and one of the world's highest
Rated speakers. Successful corporate executives everywhere recognize
Him as the foremost leader in change management.. Lou changed the way
America does business by creating an audacious concept that came to
Be known as "partnering."
Pritchett rose from soap salesman to
Vice-President, Sales and Customer Development for Procter and
Gamble and over the course of 36 years, made corporate history.

AN OPEN LETTER TO
PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike
Any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive
Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no
Visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth
Growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus
Don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned
Yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to
Publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail..

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America '
Crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style
Country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system
With a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly
Capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose
That lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of
Living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics
Against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from
Challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider
Opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both
Omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything
You do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the
Limbaugh's, Hannitys, O'Reillys and Becks who offer opposing,
Conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will
Probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Lou Pritchett

This letter was sent to the NY Times but they never acknowledged it.
Big surprise. Since it hit the Internet, however, it has had over
500,000 hits. Keep it going. All that is necessary for evil to succeed
Is that good men do nothing.. It's happening right now.*

Re: Obamanation here today

Just read this piece from Yahoo where Matt Damon was critical of President Obama. Damon was an earlier and ardent supporter of Obama's Presidency so from a PR POV, ain't good for the President.

Also, I've not vetted this article with Snopes so..............

:happy-very:

My wife and I were out running errands earlier today and local radio news reported foreclosures have shot back up and now local unemployment is at a reported 10.4% but everyone agrees this reported number is low because of other factors. I told my wife that if things don't improve at some level by the end of this year, I'm just not sure Obama will get a 2nd term and like Jimmy Carter, he could even see a challenge within his own party not unlike what Ted Kennedy did.

And more bad news today from the Wall Street Journal along with new questions of our idealized belief of national supremacy.

Re: Obamanomics

There was an article in Time magazine that did something similar with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts. The author's salary of about $230,000 would have been taxed about $1300 more a year. Oh, the terror. But those folks soon found out that they wouldn't have to sacrifice after all.
