Or possibly the 1950's.

Someone who's better with history, please school me.

Was the Korean 'war' declared a war by Congress?

Was the Vietnam 'war' declared a war by Congress?

Was the first Iraq 'war' declared a war by Congress?

Was the second Iraq 'war' declared a war by Congress?

Was the 'war' against Afghanistan declared a war by Congress?

For fuchs sake, I'm not trying to read Jane Austen.

Were any wars since WWII actually declared as wars by Congress?

Simple question, give me a simple answer.

Like I said, I'm not a student of history, but my impression of Iraq war I and II, as well the Afghanistan war, were not authorized as 'wars' in Congress.

If I'm wrong, just simply tell me.

Geez what do you think a war is if it is not the use of military force?

The war powers act is more about increasing power of the Federal Government during a time of war or national emergency. Of course you extreme leftists want the federal government to take over all industry but the rest of us do not.

Like you were asked... show us a declaration for WAR by the congress.

Pretty simple stuff. Not an authorization for military force.

So why is it that Congress stopped short of their constitutionally enumerated power to declare war, thus clearing up any murky areas?
You're all worried about the law and Obama goes around it and the constitution all the time and it's OK with you.

How is using military force against another nation not war? You are seriously gonna try to convince me that your problem is the title of the bill?

Or is your claim that the Constitution mandates that the title of the Bill say declaration of war? I'm not seeing any murky area unlike when Obama invaded Libya without congressional authorization.
