Out of curiosity, how many package car drivers who have been there for 20-25 years end up going into feeders???

Our mall driver decided that he would spend his last two years in feeders. He hated it.

We had a feeder driver who was sick of working nights come to package for Peak. Had an accident, disqualified, went back to his night job.

There is a package driver who is waiting for his chance to go to feeders.

You couldn't pay me enough to drive one of those things.

For me it was different, I went to feeders from package because I wanted to be able to see my family more, dinner at 6 o'clock School functions, evening baseball games it allowed me to see my kids much more than package

Why would a feeder driver have to qualify for driving a package car, unless he was hired off the street....

I would say a few, but not very many. Unless it takes that long to get to feeders.

Some will stay in bundles to keep the day job, raise their kids, see football games, etc.

Once the kids are gone, they go for the easy job of feeders.

I still think the number is very low though.

What you just said is one reason most of the guys in Feeder here want to keep Classification Seniority. Their feelings are that they spent the majority, if not the entirety, of their career in Feeder working their way to the run they want by working all those nights. They sacrificed their home time in order to have the job that would not wear them out as they got older. The idea that company seniority could replace the system we have is very unpalatable to them. That they would loose ground after decades of being secure in their spot is horrifying to them. Now, they don't stand a chance if all it takes is a simple majority to change it seeing as there are far more Package drivers than Feeder drivers. But, going forward, if that is what needs to happen, then red circle the heard and implement it for all incoming friend/t people. That would be fair.

Central Region Supplement
Article 3
Section 5

Previously qualified is defined as having regularly
performed said work sometime during the previous eighteen (18)
months.

Looks like he had to re-qualify if he had not performed the job regularly in the past 18 months.

I agree if that's the way it has been for these guys for their whole career.

To change the rules in the middle of the game seems unfair.

Hey Terry K./M. Jones if your change goes thru......what do you say to the Feeder Drivers like Hernan, Russell V. George K. and so on who will be forced back to package since they don't have the Full time seniority to obtain one of the 900 feeder jobs in Local 177??? Does Hernan get his $70 back from the GoFundme his contributed towards??? I would like to know what your answer is to both questions! !!
Who said anything about getting kicked back... Did you read the flyer?

Define "regularly"?

How, if the majority of the membership is in favor, do you get out of that endless loop?

Kind of reminds me of a controversy recently involving the changing of my healthcare benefits?

Guess it's like part timers who work in the hub for 10 years working two jobs just to watch an off the street hire go right into a driver job after 1 year of seasonal driving....not fair one bit but it happens although not as much as it did a few years ago...

True seniority means that any Teamster that works at a corporation such as UPS gains value as an employee based upon the amount of years they have worked at the corporation ,classification seniority is a direct violation of the true meaning of seniority which gives you value based upon where you work and not how long you worked ,allowing junior teamsrers to have more Privileges and violate senior Teamsters

So a PT with 25 years should take your spot if you have less. I mean he's been with the company longer. Right?

The Proposal that CCSC is proposing only pertains to full-time employees, but if part-timers really want to be able to carry company seniority when they transfer and they have hundreds of part-timers on board who are willing to fight for that ,just like CC SC is doing now for the upcoming contract ,who are we to deny them that right.

So East Coast Navy you don't give a dam about P/Ters because you have no part time years. So you want to not allow them who probably make up about 65% of Local 177. Real Democratic! Your flier says one thing, but if you trying and change the seniority it has to be across the board for all classifications. You are just doing it this way because it helps you jump up over 150 spots so you can do the Premium road Jobs going out West.
