Strike Vote

The vote is being conducting in UPS parking lots in my local. Every center in the local has their own day for voting once during preload and again during local sort hours.

I say it’s necessary to show that the teamsters mean business and are united.
Putting an X on a piece of paper saying yes to a strike vote really means nothing if you’re not willing to stand by it. If there is a strike have to wait and see. Lotta young guys out there with big bills. Hopefully they’re prepared, couple weeks without that $1200 paycheck might change some minds

I mean last contract in 2018 the strike vote was this same week of June and about 2 weeks later on Jun 22nd they came to a handshake deal on the whole contract. Nothing new so I hope it’s the same timeline again

They told us they can't use the parking lot and that we would have to come to the union hall on Saturday or Sunday. I would say this is the first major misstep by the new regime.

Just got word of our strike authorization vote. It’s happening all the way across town for two hours each morning this weekend. I’m a diehard yes vote but they could have made the low participation tactic a little less blatant.

I get that they have bills to pay, but they’re going to face worse consequences if they don’t make a sacrifice and they may just end up losing that $1200 paycheck job. I’m sure they can call the companies who they pay bills to and explain the situation and they’ll work with them.

I really hope it’s not like this at my local because it’s bad enough with them even attending general membership meetings.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Oh they’ll work with them alright. They’ll start shutting things off and repossessing vehicles.
