Replace the blade and you would have been good to go.

He prefers using worm drive for several reasons, a new blade wouldn't have made a difference to him. And those weren't actual pictures of my saws, just pics of the same models I found on the internet, since I'm not at home to take pictures.

Dave, in case you don't know, there is a huge difference in feel and control between direct drive and worm drive saws.

Depends on the operator's preference. Personally, I think the worm drive is more accurate.

That's how my dad feels. I'm ambivalent. He worked in construction for many years, a more comfortable and easy to control tool is always a sure bet. A homeowner who does occasional projects can make due with a direct drive.

You can get a cheap circular saw for $30. A decent hand saw is $20. Not sure cheap Is the right word.

I never thought of the brand making much difference for a multimeter.

That'll depend what features are important to you. Get at least a CAT III rated one. Amp clamps are nice because you don't have to put your meter into the circuit. Some just have two prong-like things instead of a clamp which is fine if you're only ever dealing with smaller conductors. Something that can take tonal continuity readings is a must have. There are models that have voltage detectors built right in too.

I have mostly industrial rated power tools. However, if I need a particular tool for one job, and I probably won't use it much after, I have no problem going to HF.
