Depends on the operator's preference. Personally, I think the worm drive is more accurate.

That's how my dad feels. I'm ambivalent. He worked in construction for many years, a more comfortable and easy to control tool is always a sure bet. A homeowner who does occasional projects can make due with a direct drive.

That'll depend what features are important to you. Get at least a CAT III rated one. Amp clamps are nice because you don't have to put your meter into the circuit. Some just have two prong-like things instead of a clamp which is fine if you're only ever dealing with smaller conductors. Something that can take tonal continuity readings is a must have. There are models that have voltage detectors built right in too.
