Sick em’ lol.You mean you would be out as well, sign me up. I think the good old boys forgot what a 14hr day out in a package car out in 10 degree weather was like. If you have been out of the field for over 10 years your insight to our job is obsolete and you have no knowledge on current issues we face as members. Sitting behind a desk at the union hall looking at proposals will not get you the true issues behind the memberships needs. When's the last time you went to a hub in your local and actually talked to the members about what's been going on lately with
their job or life in general. Personally only time I see anyone for my local is when they want money for drive or contract time, funny how you popped up on this site right during contract time trying to sell a crap contract. Because the contract isn't just written to benefit the union membership???
It is also written to allow the Company run their operation efficiently and safely.
With seniority, often comes experience and knowledge.
Why should the Company be saddled with having to send home the wrong person (or nobody, if it means having the wrong guy in the wrong chair) in order to satisfy a "two-way" seniority provision???
Where I will agree with you @Jones is in the notion that the Company should want to send home the senior employee if the senior employee is agreeable, for economic reason$, but should not be locked into the practice if it puts them at a disadvantage in regards to safety, service, or production.
This shouldn’t be surprising Hoffa was barely re-elected last time so he probably knows he will be out so why not push us into a contract like this one. The fact that UPS is telling us to make sure we vote should be a clue this is not a good contract for us or future UPSers. Unfortunately we are fighting against UPS and Teamsters on this one. VOTE NOThe 2013-2018 contract passed by a 53%-47% margin and there was nowhere near the anger that there is with the abomination known as the 2018-2023 contract. So to Dennis and the other negotiators, no more talking points, no more how great the contract is, put on your big boy pants and tell this company that is making record profits and will continue to make record profits that our members voted no, and hopefully "HELL NO" because 22.4 is a two-tier job classification (RPCD), that P/t's have been getting screwed for decades, and they deserve catch-up raises etc. etc.
