Adventure bikes you say?
Motorcycles that I just dont understand. Why would anyone want a 600lb dual purpose bike?
Because they're awesome and can go places a regular street bike can't and get you there way more comfortably and go much further than a 250lb dual purpose bike.

Ok. Fair enough.

But for my $28k(what a dressed out Pan America would cost)...

I would buy a couple 250lb dual purpose bikes...throw em in a nice used pickup and take them to some real trails.

It's ironic you show the ultra smooth dirt roads....that just about any vehicle....even a UPS truck can/does go down.

Hey....whatever.

BTW, you call the bike in the pictures an adventure bike? Spoke wheels, chain drive and higher fenders?

Can't imagine thrashing that in a creek and single track trails(narrow trees!).....

Again, I don't get it.

I love bikes. I have/had many/many. Honda 50 on up for 52 years.

I have a 2008 Kaw Concours/Sport Tourer. Bags and all. Doesn't look a lot different than your adventure bike. I've dropped it a few times and have even hit a deer! Each time does expensive cosmetic damage. My bags are easily detachable. That would happen to your bike too.....especially with panniers(bags).

With all respect.

Looks nothing alike.

If you want "real trails" and are gonna haul the bikes in a truck anyway, why not get a "real off-road bike" instead of a dual sport?
Pull the bags(easily done)...raise the fenders. I will look way more like your bike than any true dual sport. Cmon man. V-Strom just a street bike.

Well, lots of trails require short stints on the road....bikes need to be street legal. If the trails are a long ways...I certainly wouldn't want to ride a dual sport there....especially if I break it.

Hey, have at it....

Pull the bags...raise the fenders...remove the fairings...raise the suspension...raise the handlebars...change pretty much everything until it's no longer what you started with in the first place...

Isn't that what they did to your bike? Started with a basic street bike.....and that's what you basically have....in the end.

Again, go for it.

Again, I probably could buy a used truck, dirt bike(dual whatever), street bike and maybe have money left over. Compared to say a loaded Harley Pan America......BMW, Yamadog....Honda Africa Twin etc. Big KTM.

Makes me shudder thinking of mudding a big Boxer and rolling it end over end to get it out of someplace(which I've done with a dirt bike).

Last thought: We got rid of 300lb dirt bikes(BSA etc)(with a street genesis) in favor of 200lb 2-strokes.....now we have 500lb street/dirtbikes.....weird.
