The mother wasn't home because she was at one of the two jobs she worked to support her children, two of which are now dead.

Our local law enforcement gives you free gun locks--all you have to do is tell them how many you need. When I ask for what I needed they even threw in a couple of extra "just incase".

True, but bolt cutters could easily cut through the cheap lock that came with my guns.
