okay we went single
biggest joke ever

packages dont get scanned i say 30 out of 100 packaged dont get scanned
we are going out there with over 30 non scanned boxes
a lot of stickers missing

a big joke

we go from being able to locate packages withing groups of 5 to fishing through groups of 20
just the biggest joke ever....

adds at least 2 to 3 hours extra per day.....
anyone who thinks this is better than vrp god bless you

Biggest issue I am hearing about other terminals that make the switch is that exact scanning issue.

Leave it to FedEx management to always hammer us on training anytime theres a minor mistake one of our drivers make, but their package handlers are generally terrible and poorly trained. Management complains so much about misdeliveries, but we have 15-20 packages a day that are placed on the wrong pallets.

Can you cluster the neighborhood s more?

Or you're already maxed out for the particular route?

Someone here mentioned up to about 24 clusters in your WAD???

Sounds dandy, but when we do switch over, I will roll in the terminal to a pile of boxes... guess I'll still have to fine sort em on the floor

I was HD then Ground.

Now on single system I do both.

I touch every single box I got and with my black sharpie write on them. Typically just the street. The system is tough for HD. But, since x likes to bend us all over each and everyday my advice is adapt...it can be done just as fast as vrp

Went to single system Saturday

Not bad if the sections are 10 stops each

Sucks not having a map overview, but I took the preliminary manifest and looked thru it

I paid attention to the package counts of each stops n fine sort on the floor based on sid...

A couple had no pal stickers.

A few weren't scanned to the manifest, and I have to add them to the scanner during the day

A few were missing from the manifest, but I had no idea until I drove to the stops, then started looking for the box. Ugh... So now I'm going to verify each section as I preload them...wasting my time.

A misload from my neighboring route was in my pile, didn't catch it until I was on the road.. gotta pay attention to that as well on Tuesday.

Proprietary cable to link the Motorola power pad to my Garmin GPS 55 & 58 worked well

It had a few stops that were missing from the un scanned boxes, so I added them& drag/ drop to the proper sequence.

A few stops on there I was missing the box for

I wish I can move the sid # next to the package counts on the scanner.

Easy transition otherwise

I see why they went to this system.
Reduce paper, reduce hours of a ground warehouse worker, not paying the third party vendors of that vrp system anymore

Wasting more time for drivers to preload their own vehicles, with no extra compensation is the only bad thing

1 box was mis sort to another town 20 miles away... dex 012 it since I'm not hourly

I'm a visual person, if I can only get a big picture of the map overview, then I can effectively load my cargo to my customers' needs. Butt oh well, if I can't get to business stops with banker hours in time... It goes for a ride the next day.

I thought the loader will pack the step vans for those drivers... nope! Or maybe they are in transition to hire more people

2nd day still not up to par.

Data cable wasn't working with both Garmin GPS units,

I still have a box that wasn't on my printed manifest... caught it on road by luck & delivered it since it was across the street from another stop

Those random sid# sucked with a 20 stop section... I actually wrote the sequence# instead so I can select the box quickly like in those vrp days

I'm getting "preliminary" sequenced manifest... shouldn't we be getting a "finalized" manifest when the sort is done? That way, there won't be any surprises of extra boxes/ stops

That way, our electronic and paper manifest is showing all scanned boxes in our package piles...

Without the map overview, my sequence of stops had me starting half of my gated community, branch out to the farmlands, then end up going to the same gated community.

gah! I would've isolated the early 2000 section with the later 9000 section & hit the whole gated community in one shot

Thank goodness it's summer, wif extra daylight

When I had my HD routes I used to let the guys take the truck home. The person I sold to has them bring it back everyday. If you want your truck loaded then you need to request it, otherwise it’s the same pile of stuff everyday. Just make some labels up and put them in your truck as to where you want your stuff. Pretty much everyday even on ground they don’t scan it all in, but I once over the truck and it’s all good. If I miss one late in the day code 27 it is as idgaf. If FedEx isn’t doing their job I’ll be damned if I’m going the extra mile for one box. And as for GPS I’ve never used it, learn your area and do it in sections, should be able to work off your scanner alone

I'm working off a boxtruck... This hd standalone hub is still putting boxes on a pallet for the 100+ routes in the building! Not one p1000 stepvan is being preloaded

I do know my area, but didn't catch the sections 2000 and 9000 were in the same gated community... I was like wtf, it should've been in section 8000 & 9000

There were some pips, though.my whole 1000 section were from another route that got blown up with too much oversized freight.

The thing with taking the truck home, send agains... and the drivers are "on duty" once they leave the driveway of their homes, if they are carrying boxes, correct?

They're not doing their jobs if i have boxes that aren't showing up on the scanner or printed manifest... hate having to dex 027 anything. I've clean plate yesterday so I don't have to be in the van service audit line in the morning.

GPS is good for cover drivers... I'm covering a new area tomorrow since the regular driver got hurt. Not drinking enough and hydrating in this summer heat = bad things.

Sure, I can work off the printed manifest, but GPS with all the stops on it, makes it soon much easier, especially when it gets dark in the boonies

Oh happy USA day too!

So whatcha waaaing about? Anybody with half brain would have told them to go pound salt months ago. They know that the reason you're still there are those rental properties you hold and as a result they know that they can do anything to you and you'll simply eat it and smile.

I'm not complaining, I'm adding to the discussion that this new system has it's flaws.

Otherwise the transition is not as bad as sadman portrays.

He's in a tight urban settings, though, so having a cluster of 20 stops per section sucks.

He needs to add more sections per route so u can set-up 5 stops at a time

It's sucks to drive 5 miles to a stop to find out the box isn't in your package car.

I'm also looking at the Amazon subcontractors as well once they're up to speed in my area. If their compensation is more than my current situation at fx, I'm jumping ship

And as badly as they've treated you they don't don't deserve the courtesy of a 2 week notice.

It's all based on how the bc or ao are handling the routes.

My route is easier now that he balanced all of them.

Other drivers from a nearby terminal quit without giving a 2 week notice because of poor management of the routes and/ or poor vehicles.

They live 4- 6 miles from that terminal, but they rather travel 30 miles to my terminal instead.

I'm really not understanding what the problem is for you. Since you load your truck you should know exactly what you have and don't have.

The preload will add a stop or two, while others on the manifest aren't showing up on my pallet, but misloaded to another route.

I'm going to waste more time fine sorting on the floor, then getting my manifest and checking off every.single.stop. adding to the list on whatever box that's wasn't scanned waste more time for the drivers. To finally play Tetris and brick out by boxtruck.

Too much wasted time. The drivers just load n go and dex 027 whatever boxes not on manifest and dex 012 whatever the preload mis sorted on their pile

I just throw them in and let God sort them out will I'm delivering. No scanning. Much better. Now if I could just figure out how to clear my scanner in the morning to not have to go into the office.

Fine sort and verify as you put them in the truck. Geezus bro , it's not rocket science.
