I wouldn't say his church isn't Christians and they aren't saved but they are kind of cult like.

I agree that it sounds like that very programmed for sure, and I try to stay away from saying cult because I don’t want to judge a whole church by one member. But from what I read about them, they’re definitely one of the churches that say only they hold the truth and if you don’t believe their truth, you’re going to not be saved. It begins to lead to arrogance and self righteousness and self fulfilling prophecy of a very small church usually dwindling down to a bunch of old people yelling at the sky, saying everyone’s going to hell and doesn’t have the truth except them. I’ve seen it happen in Penecostal churches

I have run into moderate COC members and I’ve run into fanatical extreme members as well.

We have the same in my church.

Seems like most Christian sects have their share of fanatics of varying degrees. My family sees me as a bit fanatical, but members of my church see me as very moderate and tolerant.

Thankfully, the finished work of Christ covers this.

From what I know about COC churches (admittedly very small) is that they have a very loose affiliation with each other so I would imagine even within that “denomination”
they probably don’t even agree with each other.

I disagree with some of the Pentacostal teachings but in no way would I claim they aren't Christians. Some of them do feel their way is the only way but from my experience most don't. Most of my family on my fathers side are Pentacostals and they definitely aren't that way.

I agree with you on that. Most of them are very good God-fearing God loving Christians. I’m going to guess so are most COC members or attenders or whatever they call themselves.

It is a very broad label used for unrelated churches so many differences among them.

As I have noted the Church of Christ imo has its issues. But they do strive to worship the way New Testament Christians did. We don't have authorization to do whatever we like so people should consider whether what they're doing is ok with God. If you feel it's ok to have a band in your worship service or you can't do without an organ then that's between you and God. I'm happy to hear a Capella singing.

I grew up in a Pentecostal church so I still call it that. I believe they actually call it response time. But of course you’re legalistic View only has you correct and you going to heaven.

It is difficult and probably unnecessary to argue with someone such as yourself who says give me “a scripture” and then goes on to say “well yeah that scripture doesn’t say what you and many others say it says because I have the perfect interpretation and context.”

I would be willing to give your interpretation some credence if the person I thought you were reflected someone I would want to follow or listen to because he reflected Jesus, but you’re not sooo., what you parrot as your interpretation you don’t even follow yourself.

Awww it sucks when you feel convicted and have to point the finger at others. although I’ve never once said someone should follow what I say, or even use my interpretation as gospel. Worry about yourself my friend there’s plenty to worry about although you do seem interested in what I believe or don’t believe since you ask a lot of questions.
